It’s a magical day for Good Witch fans. On July 15, Hallmark announced the show would return for a seventh season. The renewal comes 10 days after the season 6 finale aired. 

Good Witch, which stars Catherine Bell as the titular “good witch” Cassie Nightingale, premiered in 2015. The show is based on a series of Good Witch movies that began airing on the network in 2008.

Bell shared the exciting news about the upcoming season of Good Witch with her fans on Twitter

“Anybody need a little GOOD news today,” she wrote. “Maybe a little Good Witch news? I am so pleased to share this with you!! We will be back! Season 7!! It’s official. Thank u for yr endless support!!!”

Bell added that she was “looking forward” to returning to Middleton, the fictional town where Good Witch takes place, “very soon.”

Fans of the drama were thrilled to hear their favorite show was coming back. 

“This is awesome news,” one replied. “Can’t get enough of Good Witch, just the wait time until the next season will drive me crazy!”

Good Witch Season 7 is expected to premiere in 2021. In addition to Bell, the series also stars James Denton, Katherine Barrell, Catherine Disher, and Sarah Power. 

‘Chesapeake Shores’ renewed for season 5

Good Witch fans weren’t the only one getting good news from Hallmark today. The feel-good network also announced that Chesapeake Shores had been renewed for season 5. The multi-generational family drama is based on a series of books by Sherryl Woods. It stars Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Treat Williams, and Diane Ladd. 

Fan-favorite series When Calls the Heart will return for season 8 in 2021. The renewal was announced in April following the season 7 finale. A When Calls the Heart Christmas special will also air this year as part of Hallmark’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” celebration.

‘Good Witch’: Why Did Bailee Madison Leave the Hallmark Show?

In addition to renewing its three original scripted series, Hallmark is also making big plans for this year’s holiday season. Forty new original Christmas movies will air on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries this year — the same number as 2019.

The 2020 Christmas movie lineup includes If I Only Had a Christmas with Candace Cameron Bure, Christmas Waltz with Lacey Chabert, Cross Country Christmas with Rachael Leigh Cook, and Christmas Doctor with Holly Robinson Peete. The full slate of films has not yet been released. 

Hallmark’s holiday programming kicks off on Friday, October 23 on both Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Hallmark Channel is currently re-airing some favorite holiday movies as part of its “Christmas in July” celebration.
