Halsey told fans they have been sick ‘for a long time’ after revealing multiple diagnoses

On May 10, Halsey revealed via their Instagram Stories that they were diagnosed with multiple health conditions, including Ehlers-Danlos, Sjogren’s, POTS, and MCAS.

The following day, the singer gave fans an update on her Instagram Stories clarifying her diagnoses. “I just want to clarify, for the benefit of friends of friends who may have any of the diagnosis [sic] that I recently shared, I didn’t ‘just get sick’ I’ve been sick. For a long time,” the singer wrote in their Instagram Stories.

“My sicknesses just have their names now,” she continued. “I went to doctors for 8 years. Trying to figure out what was wrong with me.”

Halsey went on to write that they were called several names for their illnesses before getting their diagnoses. “I was called crazy and anxious and lazy amongst other things,” they said. “When I wasn’t working I was essentially confined to my home for fear of how I’d feel when I woke up each morning.”

The singer continued in her Instagram Story to say that rather than being sad about her health conditions, she was “celebrating” getting the proper diagnoses. “It took me a long time to get to even having a diagnosis so I’m celebrating!!” Halsey wrote.

They concluded their message with a warning to fans. “Don’t roll your eyes at your sick friends,” they said. “They could be fighting a battle that they haven’t named yet. Ya know?”

Halsey’s words reflected what many fans said about the singer online after revealing her multiple diagnoses.

“I have EDS and POTS as well,” said one fan on a Reddit thread. “Getting diagnosed and getting people to take you seriously is a battle in and of itself. I’m glad H got some answers!”
