Harry Styles had one of the biggest albums last year, and the hype surrounding it followed him into 2020. Now, his fourth single’s video just dropped and people can’t get over “Watermelon Sugar.” That song, along with most of his others, is about love or attraction of some kind. But is Styles dating anyone right now? And how does one of the most popular musicians even go about dating in the first place? Privately and in a more traditional route.

Harry Styles told Howard Stern that he’s not using dating apps at the moment

While appearing on The Howard Stern Show in March, the notably pushy host asked Styles about his dating life. For one, Styles isn’t on Tinder or any type of dating app at the moment. And secondly, Styles says it’s about “balance” because he wants to have a normal experience in a very not-normal situation.

“It’s always kind of a balance thing because you want to date normally but then, you also want to protect it so it can be normal,” Styles said. “I think a big part of it is like, you wanna be able to spend enough time with each other where you can get to know each other before you have to deal with the extra stuff.”

Styles’ last known relationship was with Camille Rowe, who’s a Victoria’s Secret model, according to Bustle. Allegedly, the song “Cherry” is about their relationship.

Styles does admit that he’s dated non-celebrities

When speaking with The Guardian in December, Styles said that friend and co-collaborator Tom Hull told the singer to, “Just date amazing women, or men, or whatever, who are going to f*ck you up… Let it affect you and write songs about it.” As the writer pointed out, it sounded like Styles went along with that advice, if his songs are any hint. Also, Styles revealed that he doesn’t just go for fellow celebrities.

“I have a private life,” he said, after saying he dates normal people. “You just don’t know about it.”

Diving a bit into what the logistics are behind dating someone who’s not in the celebrity sphere, Styles laughed and said he usually goes with the flow on when to bring up “primers” or his acclaim. Since it is, you know, a “weird” topic to discuss.

“If you’ve just started seeing someone, and you’re, like: ‘So! This is what’s gonna happen!’” Styles said. “I don’t wanna have that conversation, man. It would be f*cking weird.”

There’s a lot of speculation about Styles’ sexuality, which he doesn’t really entertain

And as with anything else that comes with celebrity, the world is interested in more than just who he’s dating. There’s a lot of speculation about his sexuality as well, with some thinking he hints at being bisexual or some even saying he’s queerbaiting.

To the “queerbaiting” front, Styles told The Guardian that he’s not hinting at “sexual ambiguity” to gain followers or be more interesting. But he just goes about his style and who he is, as genuine as he can.

“In terms of how I wanna dress, and what the album sleeve’s gonna be, I tend to make decisions in terms of collaborators I want to work with. I want things to look a certain way,” Styles said. “Not because it makes me look gay, or it makes me look straight, or it makes me look bisexual, but because I think it looks cool.”

Regardless of his sexuality, Styles told Stern that marriage is something he’d “definitely” want in the future. So maybe his traditional dating style — minus apps — will help the singer with that, someday.
