Many Marvel fans are excited to see two young actors share the screen in the upcoming Marvel Disney+ series, Hawkeye. Florence Pugh will reprise her Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Yelena Belova in the show. And Hailee Steinfeld will be playing Kate Bishop, teaming up with Clint Barton to take on some bad guys in Hawkeye. To tease the fans, Steinfeld discussed what it was like working with Pugh in the Marvel series.

Florence Pugh set to reprise her role as Yelena in ‘Hawkeye’

Before fans see Florence Pugh and Hailee Steinfeld share the screen in Hawkeye, the MCU introduced Yelena Belova in Black Widow. In the film, Yelena is the adopted sister of Natasha Romanoff, and the two reunite after years spent apart. Yelena went through the same Red Room training that Natasha did, so she is also a trained assassin.

The two break their adopted father, Alexei, out of prison and reunite with their adopted mother, Melina. The four of them team up to disband the Black Widows and takedown Dreykov once and for all. They are successful in their mission, but Black Widow was always going to end on a sour note.

Black Widow takes place in between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, and it premiered after Avengers: Endgame. So, fans knew going into the film that Natasha was dead in the present.

During a post-credits scene, Yelena visits Natasha’s grave. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Yelena’s new boss, arrives and gives her her next target; Clint Barton. Of course, this will be Yelena’s motivation for coming to New York City in Hawkeye and meeting Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.

‘Hawkeye’ star Hailee Steinfeld discusses working with Pugh

According to Cosmopolitan (via ComicBook.com), Hailee Steinfeld knew right away that she would get along with her Hawkeye co-star Florence Pugh.

Steinfeld said, “Oh, one hundred percent. I honestly felt that right away. And I hope to god she’d say the same thing. Jeez. Now that I say it, I’m like, ‘I knew right from the start!’ And what if she was like, ‘This girl?’ No, I think we just had similar energy.”

“We had a moment together where we were shooting, and something went wrong. There was no recovering from it. I started laughing so hard that somebody thought I was crying,” Steinfeld recalled. “I don’t know what that says about my laugh.”

She continued, “And I just remember a flood of people rushing in and being like, ‘Is everyone OK?’ And I’m literally facedown on the ground, just hysterically laughing. Mind you, we were in a scene that was in no way, shape, or form meant to be at all funny. We really did have a wonderful time together.”

We have a feeling that Hailee Steinfeld‘s and Florence Pugh’s characters won’t get along in Hawkeye as much as they do in real life. Yelena will most likely be trying to kill Kate’s hero, after all.

Will Hailee Steinfeld continue playing Kate Bishop in the MCU after ‘Hawkeye’?

During an interview with Empire (via The Direct), Hawkeye star Hailee Steinfeld discussed her future as Kate Bishop.

She said, “There’s a lot of new opportunities rising. I’m excited to see where a character like Kate goes. She is not to be underestimated in the slightest. We see here how ambitious, how driven she is. The sky’s the limit for her, I feel.”

Perhaps Hawkeye will not be the last time fans see Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova share a screen in the MCU. If the fan theories are correct, they could be the new Hawkeye and Black Widow in the Avengers.

Hawkeye, starring Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh, premieres on Nov. 24 on Disney+.
