Mishaps occur on set all the time when it comes to stunts. But every once in a while a stunt goes so horribly wrong that it can endanger an actor’s safety. This was the case for Armie Hammer who found himself in a dangerous scenario where he was trapped underwater. However, when he turned to his co-star, Henry Cavill, for help, Hammer revealed Cavill left him there to drown.

Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer co-starred in the 2015 film The Man from U.N.CL.E. Although the two played enemies in the Guy Ritchie feature, they became close on set. The closeness of the two was tested, however, when Hammer almost drowned in an underwater incident.

According to Daily News, Hammer was filming a scene where he was tied to a cinderblock underwater. The scene was supposed to play out with Henry Cavill’s character saving him from a watery grave. But due to a slight miscalculation, Cavill found himself having to save Hammer in real life.

“It was like a mafia execution gone wrong,” Hammer quipped about the incident.

The Daily News noted that Hammer failed to slip out of his tether when Cavill swam towards him. The Man of Steel star tried to pull him up for safety, but the cinder block Hammer was tied to made the rescue difficult.

“Henry started swimming with me, but he was basically pulling me and this giant cinder block up…so he did what you would naturally do and let go…and I sank all the way back back to the bottom,” Hammer recalled.

A rescue diver swam over and saved Hammer by sticking a breathing regular into his mouth. Even though Cavill left Hammer to drown, given the circumstances, Hammer understood the situation.

“He was like, ‘Hey man, you let me go,’” Cavill said about Hammer. “’But I’m really sorry because I still had a cinder block attached to my foot!’”

Armie Hammer once helped a car accident victim

This isn’t the first time Armie Hammer was involved in an accident. The Call Me By Your Name star found himself on the opposite end of another accident, playing the hero this time instead of a victim. Today reported that supermodel Leeann Tweeden gave a detailed account of Hammer’s act of heroism on her Facebook page.

“So random random RANDOM. I was sitting in my house when I hear an accident tonight. I throw on my shoes and run out of my house to see if I can help,” Tweeden posted.

Tweeden reported by the time she went to help the accident victim, she saw a man helping an elderly lady out of a smashed car. The model was soon floored when she realized who the man helping out the lady was.

“When the guy turns around, who is it?!!!! None other than: ARMIE HAMMER,” Tweeden wrote. “Yes, ladies. The cutie Armie was in the opposite turn lane in his Audi and watched the whole thing go down and got out of his car to help. Me and him. Out of millions in LA.”

Armie Hammer hasn’t been seen that much in Hollywood after allegations from his exes began to surface. One such ex alleged Hammer shared extreme sexual fantasies. Courtney Vucekovich claimed that the actor told her he wanted to break her rib and eat it. Recent texts allegedly from Hammer also revealed more of his reported fetishes.

“I am 100% a cannibal. I want to eat you. F**k. That’s scary to admit. I’ve never admitted that before,” The Social Network star confided.

Since these accusations, Hammer has taken a bit of a reprieve from the spotlight. He was supposed to star in Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez, but dropped out amid controversy. However, Hammer asserted that he left the project due to familial issues rather than these recent claims.

“I’m not responding to these bullsh*t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me,” Hammer said. “I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”
