Lifetime is rebooting the hit 1980s series Highway to Heaven. The feel-good show about an angel (played by Little House on the Prairie star Michael Landon, who also created the original series) who returns to earth to help people in need will return as a series of made-for-TV movies starting this fall. Grammy-winner Jill Scott and 7th Heaven alum Barry Watson will star.

The first Highway to Heaven movie will premiere Saturday, November 6 on Lifetime at 8 p.m. ET. Scott will play an angel named Angela Stewart who takes a job as a guidance counselor at a junior high school, where she works alongside principal Bruce Banks (Watson).

The new show will address contemporary social and emotional issues with a theme of “love and kindness,” according to the network. Lifetime said it felt like now was the perfect time to bring back Highway to Heaven and its positive, inspirational stories, which it hopes will “inspire hope and community.”

“The original Highway to Heaven was appointment viewing for millions and in a time when we need those messages of hope the most, we are excited to bring back the iconic series in a new way,” Lifetime executive vice president for scripted programming Tanya Lopez said in a statement.

“I’m so happy to be a part of Highway to Heaven; something sweet for the sweet,” Scott tweeted when the movie was announced.

Michael Landon’s widow Cindy Landon is one of the producers on the show, on behalf of the late actor’s estate.

Though the Highway to Heaven premiere is still months away, a recently released trailer hints at what to expect from the movie.

In the teaser, Angela applies for a job as a guidance counselor. Watson’s character reminds her it’s just a temporary gig, but she says that a few weeks is sometimes all you need to change a life.  After Angela is hired, she connects with a student named Cody (Ben Daon) who is grieving the loss of his mother. Meanwhile, his dad Jeff (Robert Moloney), is also struggling, saying that he’s “lost” without his wife.

Eventually, Angela delivers a message to Cody from his mom. She also reveals her true identity to a disbelieving Bruce.

“Angels are real,” Angela says. “We come to those who are looking for a miracle.” Later, she tells Bruce: “My boss has such big plans for you.”
