It didn’t last long, though. By November of the same year, Dobrev and Powell had cooled off. Sources suggested the couple’s busy schedules made it harder to see each other. And it felt more like a fizzle out than an all-out breakup. It had been a hot and heavy 11 months.

Dobrev made headlines when she began dating Ian Somerhalder, her Vampire Diaries co-star prior to her relationship with Powell. Us Magazine reports a timeline of Dobrev’s dating history right up to her present relationship with Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, which began in 2020. White and Dobrev are still together, having lived with each other throughout the pandemic. White just competed in the Beijing Olympics, placing fourth in his Half-Pipe event. Dobrev posted on Instagram, calling him a “hero.”
Dobrev has had a high-profile dating timeline over the years that includes brief stints with Orlando Bloom, James Marsden, and Liam Hemsworth. While she’s passionately in love with White, some wonder if she’s feeling those “sparks” like she once did with Powell.
