When it comes to the character of Marvel’s Peter Parker / Spider-Man, many consider Tobey Maguire to be the original thanks to his role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. In 2021, Maguire joined Andrew Garfield by putting on the Spidey suit again in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was the moment that everyone had been hoping for. What many may not know, however, is just how much Maguire made for No Way Home and the other Spider-Man movies. Let’s take a closer look.

The world had been craving a Spider-Man movie for years, but it wasn’t until Raimi brought it to the big screen in 2002 that they got their wish. Even though there were a lot of actors to try out, Maguire was chosen for the role of Peter Parker, and he set the tone for each Spider-Man to follow.

In 2004, Maguire reprised the role of Peter Parker again, even though there were rumors that Jake Gyllenhaal was almost cast. After the success of Spider-Man 2, Maguire came back one more time to play in Spider-Man 3

While there were clamors for a fourth installment, critics and fans alike weren’t thrilled with the third installment, and it never got off the ground. A new Spider-verse was created, and the series was rebooted with Garfield as the new Spider-Man.

How much did Tobey Maguire make for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’?

The Spider-Man films have never been connected before, but No Way Home changed all that. It not only gave a nod to the first two actors to play the iconic hero, but also brought their universes together. Fans were thrilled to have three Spider-Mans instead of just one, and it brought in some of the greatest Spider-Man villains to hit the big screen.

Even though Maguire was not the main Spider-Man in this film and was only on screen for around 30 minutes according to Distractify, he made quite a bit of money for his role. In fact, it’s been reported that Maguire made $1 million for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Fans were delighted to have Maguire back even though there have been rumors he acted like a diva on set, leaving some to wonder how much he made for the original films.

While he made quite a bit for No Way Home, Maguire actually made far more for the first three films. According to Yahoo! News, he made $4 million for the original Spider-Man film. That was quite a bit of money, but he earned a massive raise for the sequel.

Maguire earned $17.5 million for Spider-Man 2. If that wasn’t enough, he also received 5 percent of the movie’s box office earnings. It brought in $373.6 million in the U.S. and Canada, and $415 million worldwide, for a total of $788.6 million. This meant that Maguire received an extra $39.43 million.

For Spider-Man 3, he took a bit of a pay cut and was given only $15 million for the role. He was also offered 7.5 percent of the gross earnings, which was a bit of a raise. It earned $336.5 million in the U.S. and Canada and $558.4 million worldwide. In total, this was $894.9 million, which means Maguire earned $63.67 million. This was almost double what he made for Spider-Man 2.

While there hasn’t been an official announcement about Maguire reprising his role as Spider-Man, there have been some rumors that he may return as a part of a Secret Wars project. Nothing has been confirmed, however, so we’ll just have to wait and see if Maguire and Garfield come back.
