Dannielynn was just 5 months old when her mother, Anna, died. And many questioned who the child’s father was. According to Distractify, several men could’ve been possibilities — and Larry seemed to be the most unlikely of them all. He was a paparazzi member, and many were convinced he was just trying to attain fame by asserting he was the father. But a paternity test proved Dannielynn was actually Larry’s daughter.
“I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I told you so,” Larry announced back in 2007. “I’m the father. My baby’s going to be coming home pretty soon.”
Since then, Larry and Dannielynn have done an excellent job in staying far away from the spotlight. Dannielynn modeled for Guess in 2012, but then realized she didn’t want to live the public life her mother lead — and Larry supported her through this. Now, the father-daughter duo attends the Kentucky Derby every year as per their own tradition. And Larry has talked about Dannielynn wanting to stay in relative anonymity.
“I’ve had companies call me since and ask for her to model, and that answer’s no,” Larry told 20/20, according to Distractify. “She doesn’t show any interest in it. She wants to be a kid.”

So, how old is Dannielynn? She’s currently 14 years old and will turn 15 in September 2021.
As for Anna, she was 39 years old when she had Dannielynn, Hollywood Life notes. Dannielynn had a half-brother, too — Daniel Smither. Anna had her son when she was just 17 years old, but Daniel later died of an overdose.
Larry does his best to keep Anna’s memory alive for Dannielynn, too. “We visit [her grave], and I tell Dannielynn stories about her mom,” Larry explained to Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t sugarcoat it. I say there are some things that your mom did and you know I try to make her learn from it. My goal was always to keep Daniel and Anna in her mind and let her know who they were without overdoing it.”
As for what Dannielynn is up to in 2021, it’s safe to assume she’s happily living the life of a normal teen as best she can. “I make it as normal as I can,” Larry said.
How did Anna Nicole Smith die?
Anna dying was a complete tragedy, and everyone felt the loss back in 2007. According to Today, Anna died by accidentally overdosing on nine prescription drugs. Her last few days involved stomach flu, a 105-degree fever, sweating, and infection in her behind due to injections.
The star was found in a hotel when she died, and she reportedly refused to visit a hospital prior to her overdose. A medical examiner also found she was taking the sedative chloral hydrate. This specific sedative is associated with the death of Marilyn Monroe.
Medical examiner Dr. Joshua Perper noted Anna could’ve stayed alive if she visited the hospital a week before she died. “The earlier you come to a hospital, the more you have a chance, but there’s not a guarantee,” he explained to the Associated Press. “Those are not things with a mathematic precision, but within a reasonable degree of medical certainty, I don’t think she had really a realistic chance.”
