At this point, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown to such tremendous proportions that it seems like just about every actor in Hollywood who wants a role can get at least a cameo. Even with this ever-growing slate of actors from film and television shows within the MCU, there are still a collection of leading stars who stand apart from the rest.

For many, appearing in the MCU has been a tremendous boost to their careers and name recognition, and for others, their MCU performance has been another jewel in a crown that was already shining brightly.

Tom Hiddleston is among the former. Appearing as Loki has given Hiddleston much more fame and opened doors to future projects. Just how tall is the Loki star?

Tom Hiddleston started his career with TV movies

A quick look at Tom Hiddleston’s filmography will demonstrate that his performance as Loki has been a major breakthrough for his acting career. His first credited role came 20 years ago when he had a part in the 2001 TV movie The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.

He followed that up with several appearances in TV movies and documentary series.

The London-born actor then saw roles in some short-lived series like Suburban Shootout and Wallander. Things were looking up when Hiddleston got cast in Unrelated, a 2007 drama about a troubled woman seeking refuge with a friend’s family on a Tuscany vacation.

Hiddleston played Oakley, a cousin of the family who served as a kind of escape for the lead character with antics that included skinny dipping.

In 2011, the trajectory of Hiddleston’s career would change forever when he was cast as Loki in Thor. The film, which stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, gave Hiddleston the chance to introduce the world to his complex — sometimes infuriating — character of the trickster god Loki.

The character would become increasingly important within the MCU, and Hiddleston gained fame with each subsequent performance. In 2012, he played Loki in The Avengers. He followed it up with Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Loki has been a recurring feature in the MCU, but now he’s getting a series all his own, and that’s sure to make attention to Hiddleston grow even more. The upcoming show will stream on Disney+ and feature Loki in his trickster, shape-shifting form as he pops up across different events in history.

The series has been likened to an “action-packed Forest Gump” because of the way it will weave real-life historical moments with the fictitious backdrop of Loki’s story.

All of this attention is sure to bring more eyes on Hiddleston’s personal life and details as well. Getting a boost to having his own show will raise Hiddleston’s status among the other leading MCU characters, and there are sure to be comparisons.

For those who are curious about the tallest of the MCU actors, you might find it interesting to know that Hiddleston does make the top ten, according to The Things, but just barely.

At 6’2″ tall, Hiddleston makes the list tied with Samuel L. Jackson and Elizabeth Debicki. He’s just eked out by Idris Elba, who has an extra half-inch of height. They’re all dwarfed by Winston Duke, however, who stands at an impressive 6’5″.
