Issa Rae always planned for this to be the last season of ‘Insecure’

For fans of the hit HBO show that are disappointed in its ending, Issa Rae never planned to make Insecure run forever.

As we previously reported, Rae made clear that she wanted to end Insecure after five seasons. “I always knew I was going to do these five seasons. Now that it’s coming to an end, and we’re shooting, I have no regrets,” she said. “But there’s an element of knowing I’m going to miss this, and I don’t want to take this for granted. There’s no feeling like doing your first TV show and doing it with people who are also fresh with you, and growing and building with them.”

Rae also said that she was excited to begin the next phase of her career.

How can you watch the final season premiere?

According to FanSided, the fifth and final season of Insecure will air on HBO. It will air right after Succession. According to the outlet, the episode is set to start at 10:02 p.m. ET and will run for 32 minutes. However, some people who have streaming services won’t be able to watch the show.

“You can watch the premiere on HBO or HBO Max,” reports the outlet. “The channel is no longer available through Amazon Prime Video, and you can’t find it through streamers like FuboTV. You can, however, subscribe to HBO Max on Hulu with the HBO Max add-on. If you’ve already got Hulu, that might be the easiest option.”

Where does the story pick up?

Because this is the last-ever season premiere of Insecure, People reports that all the loose ends on the show will be tied up. There will be no more cliffhangers. The stories that fans have come to know and love will finally come to an end, and reach their conclusions.

“What will happen with Issa and Molly’s friendship?” asks the outlet, rhetorically. “What can we expect after Lawrence dropped that mega bombshell? Can Condola even handle an actual infant? The friendships, the relationships — and yes the (iconic) mirror raps — will continue with the 10-episode season.”

The outlet goes on to explain that the cast will be navigating their friendships in the 10-episode season. But most of all, the friendship between Molly and Issa (which both Rae and Insecure co-star Yvonne Orji called the “backbone of the show”) will continue to be explored, as well. Fans will definitely have to tune in to the season premiere of Insecure to see how this all pans out.
