After 20 seasons in the NFL, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has called it a career. The announcement was made via Instagram on March 14 by his four children declaring that their dad was retiring to “spend more time with them.”

Along with the video, the former signal caller posted a message to his fans writing: “You have molded me, strengthened me, inspired me, and given me a lifetime of memories… I am only retiring from playing football, I am not retiring from New Orleans. This is not goodbye, rather a new beginning.”

After the Saints were knocked out of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it was widely believed that Brees was going to hang up his cleats. WDSU News noted fans flooded the out front of the athlete’s home with notes and signs of appreciation. Here’s more on that New Orleans residence and the other properties Brees and his family call home.

Brees’ New Orleans home where fans left messages of appreciation

After signing with the Saints in 2006, Brees bought a house for $1.6 million in Uptown New Orleans. The 10,800 square-foot residence has four bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The front of the home has iron-lace doors that open up into a spacious foyer with a crystal chandelier. There are hardwood floors throughout and a large gourmet kitchen with granite countertops. The upstairs master bedroom has a fireplace, a jacuzzi tub, and his and hers walk-in closets.

His Four Seasons condo

In 2020, TMZ Sports reported that Brees spent $2 million for a condo at the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences New Orleans located on Canal Street. The former football star’s condo comes with plenty of amenities including private access to a bar and lounge as well as a golf simulator room.

“When I heard The Four Seasons was coming to New Orleans, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase a condominium,” Brees said in a statement. “The Four Seasons is transformative for this city and I’m excited to be part of it. My family and I will always love New Orleans and be proud to call the Four Seasons home.”

Brees has also owned real estate in Hawaii.

According to Realtor.com, those properties are townhomes in Kauai. He listed one in 2015 for $1.75 million and another hit the market last year for $2.05 million. The latter has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, two living rooms, a dining room, and a large kitchen with all stainless steel appliances.

The video tour courtesy of listing agent Nathan Smith shows the property boasts stunning views of Kauai’s Hanalei Bay. In addition, there’s a lanai and a patio area overlooking the water. Impressive views can be seen from inside the home as well thanks to several floor-to-ceiling windows.

Residents can also enjoy three heated pools, a spa, two barbecue areas, and a pavilion.
