Kim Kardashian West’s divorce filing was a long time coming

Kanye and Kardashian West were always looked at as couple goals, but it became clear that there were problems in their relationship in the summer of 2020, when the ye rapper exposed family issues on Twitter.

The couple seemed to be working through it in August when they took a family trip to the Caribbean, which sources described as an attempt to repair their marriage. But when it was over, they reportedly returned to separate homes, with Kanye going back to his Wyoming ranch and Kardashian West taking up their main residence in Calabasas, California.

By the next year, there were reports saying Kardashian West was planning to file for divorce, as their relationship allegedly never recovered after Kanye’s tweets. She followed through on that in late February, citing irreconcilable differences.

“Their marriage has been broken for a long time,” an insider told People Magazine. “Kim feels like she has done everything she can to save it. Filing for divorce is something she has been thinking about for a long time. She has also been dreading it. She really, really has done everything to avoid filing.”

What has Kim Kardashian West been up to since filing for divorce?

As of writing, Kardashian West has not directly commented on the divorce. But an insider told Entertainment Tonight in a report published on April 17 that she’s been keeping her head up.

“[She] has been doing her best to surround herself with her family and good friends, be social, go out and, of course, take care of her children,” the source said, referencing the couple’s kids North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1.

The source continued saying, “She is focused on making sure her kids are taken care of and protected. But she is definitely still getting used to her new norm.”
