Netflix is set to welcome a whole new slew of shows and movies over the coming weeks, but no show has generated more buzz than Bridgerton. From the mind of Shonda Rhimes, Bridgerton is a whole new type of period drama, featuring racially diverse casting and a fabulous cast of British actors. With the show making headlines in advance of its December 25th streaming date, fans are eager to learn everything that they can about the series, and about some of the talented actors who inhabit the characters.

What is ‘Bridgerton’ about?

Bridgerton is based on a series of hugely popular novels by Julia Quinn. Set in the dynamic, fascinating world of Regency London high society, Bridgerton primarily follows the Bridgerton family, a group of wealthy socialites who are intent upon finding their places in the world.

Also featuring prominently in the series are the Featheringtons, a “rival” family to the Bridgertons who often find themselves at odds with many in the London social circle.

Shonda Rhimes, the creative force behind hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy is the showrunner and producer for Bridgerton. Rhimes was eager to attach herself to the project, claiming in a recent interview with the New York Times that period dramas are a somewhat underserved genre.

“It’s fascinating to me that no one has really done it before,” Rhimes said. “Romance novels really lend themselves to the TV genre. They’re visual; they’re well paced; they have great plots.”

It is very possible that Rhimes’ new series will invigorate the world of romance novels — especially considering she has rounded up some truly talented actors for the series.

As Simon Basset, a charming duke in Bridgerton, Page is bound to make a splash. Numerous publications are already proclaiming Page as the next big thing, with many fans speculating about his relationship status.

For now, it seems as though Page is single, although there were some rumors that he was dating his Bridgerton co-star, Phoebe Dynevor.

Page is certainly aware of the effect that he is having on his fanbase. Still, for the young actor, his work is the most important thing.

As he revealed in a recent interview with InStyle: “Every single time I step on stage or on screen, I am contributing to a culture in which there’s a dearth of people representing folks that look like me, or that have our context. Every time you are representing people, you owe them the wholeness of their humanity.”

Page will undoubtedly only continue to become more popular once Bridgerton debuts on Netflix on December 25th, 2020.
