Still, one recent announcement of his has fans buzzing — the news that Sheeran and his wife have welcomed a baby girl. With only a few details confirmed by Sheeran, fans are left to speculate about what the baby girl looks like, and whether the newborn shares her father’s bold hair color. 

How did Ed Sheeran become famous?

Sheeran was born in England in 1991. He began singing at the age of four and by the time he was eleven, Sheeran was writing and performing songs, booking gigs around his hometown.

Although Sheeran began recording music in 2004, it would take years before he began really getting noticed. After a period of time touring and performing, Sheeran released his debut single “The A Team.” The song became hugely popular and received a great deal of critical acclaim.

Sheeran began working with top artists in the music industry, and his collaborative friendship with Taylor Swift helped to boost his popularity. By 2011, Sheeran had become an international superstar and the release of songs such as “Thinking Out Loud” and “Shape of You” only served to enhance his popularity with audiences of all ages.

Soon, Sheeran was on top of the world — but by late 2019, he was ready to take a break from the music industry, announcing on his Instagram that he intended to take a step back from the limelight for a while. 

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn have kept their romance private

Sheeran has remained humble throughout his meteoric rise to fame and has managed to stay mostly out of the headlines. Still, there has been no lack of romance in Sheeran’s life. For years, he has been tied to his longtime friend and love, Cherry Seaborn. Sheeran and Seaborn went to school together and were first rumored to be a couple in 2015. 

Sheeran and Seaborn have only been pictured together a handful of times, and the two have proven dedicated to keeping their romance under the radar. Still, Sheeran himself confirmed that he and Seaborn were engaged in January 2018, revealing that “we are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.”

Around a year later, Sheeran and Seaborn tied the knot — and in typical style for the low-key pair, they kept the ceremony very private, only confirming their wedding several months later.

For several years, Sheeran has been hinting that he is ready to be a father — and it seems as though he’s finally gotten his wish. On September 1st, Sheeran shared a personal message on Instagram, revealing that he and his wife just welcomed a daughter named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. Sheeran added that both mother and baby are doing well and that they are “on cloud nine over here.”

Sheeran did not share any pictures of the baby girl, choosing to post a sweet snap of a pair of her tiny socks, instead. Therefore, fans will have to wait for a while to see if the baby has the same striking red hair like her father. With as private as Sheeran has proven to be, it could be some time before fans get their first peek at the baby — still, with as dominant as the red hair gene can sometimes be, it seems likely that the little one might have at least a tint of red in her hair.
