Is Halle Berry Single?

Halle Berry’s successful acting career spans decades and has garnered her several awards, including an Oscar for Best Actress. Now, in her early 50s, not only is she still acting, she is in the best shape of her life and living well with her two children. Alongside her tremendous career success, however, has been a through-line of several unsuccessful and sometimes abusive romantic relationships. Berry has had a tough go of love and seems to be constantly learning from her mistakes and moving forward despite all that she has experienced.

Berry has been married three times in her life. Her first marriage was to baseball player David Justice and lasted from 1992 to 1997. Berry took out a restraining order against Justice in the aftermath of the split. Later, when she said a past relationship was abusive and caused permanent hearing loss due to a blow to the head, many assumed Justice was the culprit. This is a claim he’s still trying to shake years later, even taking to calling her out via Twitter in 2015. Many of those tweets have since been deleted.

Halle Berry’s second marriage to songwriter Eric Benét in the early 2000s also ended in an embarrassing and public way. Berry discovered that Benét was a sex addict, having cheated on her dozens of time. In an interview with Oprah in 2004, she shared her heartbreak and inability to move forward with the relationship due to a broken trust that could never be mended. She also took away a valuable lesson stating, “I’ve learned that when I see a flag in a relationship next time, recognize it as a flag.” Unfortunately, Berry had more missed flags and heartbreaks ahead.

What happened between Halle Berry and model Gabriel Aubry?

After Berry’s marriage with Benét ended, she went on to date model Gabriel Aubry, and though they never married they were together for five years and had a daughter, Nahla, together. The relationship ended in 2010 and lead to a difficult custody battle. In recently exposed court papers, Berry’s allegations paint the picture of an extremely dysfunctional relationship. Among the claims were that Aubry was abusive, degrading Berry for her looks, and refused to acknowledge their child as biracial.

The most scandalous claim by far, however, was the assertion that Aubry had been involved in an incestuous relationship for years. The other party involved was not named, and the judge struck many of Berry’s statements from the record. Far from being a cheating accusation, the alleged relationship had occurred in Aubry’s youth during his time in foster care. Berry brought it up to paint a picture of an unwell man that never received help for his trauma. She also claimed that they only had sex three times a year and, “[Aubry] refused to either recognize or accept responsibility for these issues. Instead, he criticized my body in ways which are very demeaning to women.”

Aubry ultimately won monthly child support payments, back payments from before the trial, and Berry also had to cover his attorney fees. After splitting with Aubry, Berry moved on to her third husband, Olivier Martinez. They had a son together, Macea, in 2013 and divorced in 2016.

Is Halle Berry dating anyone now?

Starting in 2017, Berry was very public about her desire to stay single. In an interview with People TV, she shared what she had learned saying, “[I learned] that I can be alone… I’m facing my fears and I’m learning that I can conquer them. We have to live for ourselves and live for our own individual happiness.”

In another interview that same year she shared, “All of those relationships were necessary for me. We all come here with lessons that we have to learn, and those relationships provided me with lessons that got me to where I am right now. For that, I’m grateful. But it has been hard. It’s been a difficult part of my life.”

There were rumors for a time after posting several intimate photos with her personal trainer, Peter Thomas Lee, that the two were a couple. They both denied such claims. They have been working together for years and say they are just a “fitness couple” and nothing more. For now, it seems Berry is sticking it out on her own and focusing on her two young children.
