As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) introduces new heroes, fans will likely bid farewell to some of their favorites. Avengers: Endgame already proved that to be true. And case in point, the current Guardians of the Galaxy line-up will be no more after the next sequel. So critics of star Chris Pratt might not have too much longer to wait until he exits the franchise.

The internet names Chris Pratt Hollywood’s ‘worst Chris’

Pratt has, of course, been discussed a lot lately. In particular, the internet has once again declared the actor to be the “worst Chris.” Born out of the fact that three MCU leading men have the same first name, fans have made it a habit to debate which Chris is the best. This conversation often takes into account the stars’ personal and professional lives.

Pratt’s religious and alleged political affiliations have been a big sticking point for some fans. Meanwhile, others point out the buffoonish way his MCU character, Star-Lord aka Peter Quill, is depicted in the recent Avengers movies. In any case, Pratt most often competes against fellow Marvel actors Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth and Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine.

How the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star compares at the box office

The four actors are also of similar age and are best known for their sci-fi and superhero movies. But when it comes to the worldwide box office, which of the four main “Chrises” is actually the “worst”? To find out, we took a look at the cumulative total gross of their big-screen roles, according to The-Numbers.com.

Despite Wonder Woman and three Star Trek movies, Pine lands in fourth and last place with $3.9 billion. Perhaps the actor would have ranked higher if Wonder Woman 1984 had already hit theaters. Pratt came in third with $11.6 billion. That total counts not only his MCU work but also Jurassic World, The Lego Movie, and their sequels.

Hemsworth is in second with $11.7 billion. The actor owes, of course, the bulk of that to the MCU. But he got a boost from Star Trek — in which he plays Pine’s dad — Snow White and the Huntsman and 2016’s Ghostbusters. That leaves Evans in the top spot with an impressive $13.2 billion, thanks to 9 MCU credits, two Fantastic Four movies, and 2019 hit Knives Out.

The bigger issue with MCU stars stepping up to defend Chris Pratt

Commercially at least, Pratt is far from the “worst Chris.” In fact, he nearly bests Hemsworth and will likely climb even higher after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Fans will continue to argue over his standing among the other stars, as they do. But the recent incident has sparked a bigger discussion.

After Pratt was derided online, many of his MCU co-stars — including Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo — came out to support him. Yet, fans question why the very same actors didn’t react so strongly when Brie Larson and other female MCU actors were treated harshly. Clearly, there’s a much bigger discussion to have than which actor named Chris is the “worst.”
