What’s going on with Jack Ryan? The Amazon Prime Video series was renewed for a third season way back in February 2019, months before season 2’s release in November 2019. Since then fans of the John Krasinski action series have been waiting — and waiting — to see those new episodes.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date for Jack Ryan Season 3. But we did recently get some news that should make fans of the show pretty happy.

‘Jack Ryan’ Season 3 just finished filming

According to an October 2021 report from Deadline, production on the next season of Jack Ryan recently wrapped. While Amazon hasn’t announced a release date yet, hopefully, that means the new episodes will arrive sooner rather than later.

Jack Ryan is based on characters created by best-selling author Tom Clancy, with Krasinski in the title role. (Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford, Chris Pine, and Alec Baldwin have all previously played Jack Ryan on screen.) In season 3 of the Amazon series, Ryan gets caught up in a web of conspiracy. The CIA analyst finds himself wanted by the very agency he works for, along with an international rogue faction that he helped to uncover. He has to go underground, racing across Europe as he fights to stay alive and prevent a massive global conflict.

Vaun Wilmott serves as showrunner for season 3, following some behind-the-scenes shakeups (via the Hollywood Reporter).

In addition to Krasinski, Wendell Pierce will be back as James Greer and Michael Kelly will return as Mike November in Jack Ryan Season 3. In July, Pierce tweeted a photo of himself in costume, along with the message (in Italian): “JG in the field and on a mission. Tip of the spear.”

Several new faces are also joining the show’s cast next season.

Betty Gabriel will play chief of station Elizabeth Wright, Deadline reports. James Cosmo will play Luca, Peter Guinness plays Petr, Nina Hoss plays Alena, and Alexej Manvelov plays Alexei.

Amazon has already ordered ‘Jack Ryan’ Season 4

While we don’t know when we’ll see Jack Ryan Season 3, we do know that it won’t be the show’s last. Amazon recently confirmed that the series will return for a fourth season.

Michael Peña of Narcos: Mexico will join the cast in season 4, though we don’t yet know what role he’ll play. However, a message from the show’s Twitter account says that his character “brings new skill to the team.”

Jack Ryan Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
