Jay Halstead and Will Halstead are fan favorites on their shows. Jay leads Chicago P.D. Season 9 as a detective. Prior to the February 2022 break, he and Hailey Upton eloped — and fans look forward to seeing how the couple’s marriage works out for them.

Will Halstead is a regular in Chicago Med Season 7. In episode 13, he questioned a patient’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis — and it seems he was right to do so. He also spoke to Dr. Stevie Hammer about her decision to give her relationship with her estranged husband another go.

So far, the Halstead brothers haven’t crossed paths in quite some time. The brothers are close, but it might take a larger event for them to reunite. Luckily for fans, Chicago Med showrunners promise we’ll see Jay and Will come together.

“There are definitely plans to reunite the Halstead brothers!” Chicago Med showrunners Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov said to TVLine.

Will a One Chicago crossover event happen in 2022 to bring the brothers together?

It’s unclear exactly how Chicago P.D. Season 9 and Chicago Med Season 7 will join forces to bring Jay Halstead and Will Halstead together again. But the most obvious way to get the brothers back together would be with a One Chicago crossover event. So, can fans expect a crossover in 2022 after not having any in 2021?

Chicago Med executive producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider spoke to TV Insider about what fans can expect. “At this point, we don’t have a major crossover planned but we do have minor ones,” Frolov told the publication.

“So, you’ll see the Fire and P.D. people on our show and vice versa,” Schneider said.

Frolov then noted, “Our people are going over to their shows.” This could give a clue that it’s Will who will appear on Chicago P.D. Season 9. Perhaps there’s a situation at the hospital where the Intelligence Unit is needed, thus bringing Will into the P.D. world with Jay.

Chicago P.D. Season 9 and Chicago Med Season 7 viewers can’t imagine the shows without Jay Halstead and Will Halstead. So, are Jay and Will brothers in real life?

While fans would love for them to be, they’re not. Jesse Lee Soffer plays Jay, and Nick Gehlfuss plays Will. While they have a fantastic brotherly relationship they portray when they do meet on each other’s shows, there’s no actual relation between them.

With that said, Soffer and Gehlfuss have a great friendship. Hello! reports Soffer shared a story of them teaming up together in real life to help a woman in need as they were walking home from dinner.

“And she was like ‘Aaah!’” Soffer said of the woman he and Gehlfuss helped. “It was like a weird meta experience for her that the Halstead brothers were saving her life.”
