Jessie J might be preparing to give fans a deeper look into her relationship with Channing Tatum. She and the 21 Jump Street actor dated for a little over a year before they quietly split earlier in 2020. Since then, neither of them has said much about the reason they decided to call it quits, but new reports say that Jessie J has allegedly penned a song with details about it.

A quick timeline of Jessie J’s relationship with Channing Tatum

Jessie J was linked to Tatum in October 2018 when they were spotted on a mini-golf date, six months after Tatum split from Jenna Dewan following a nine-year marriage. In the following months, neither of them commented on the nature of their relationship. But it became evident through their social media exchanges that something was up.

After months of speculation, they went public with their relationship in March 2019, when Tatum posted a tribute to Jessie J on Instagram for her birthday. Their romance continued until December, with multiple outlets reporting that it was an amicable split. “There wasn’t any drama. They just decided to part ways and are still good friends,” a source stressed to People.

After a few weeks apart, Jessie J rekindled her relationship with Tatum. But in April, it was reported that they had broken up once again after three months of being back together. A source told E! News at the time that they had tried to move past the problems they’d previously had “but the same issues were still popping up.”

Jessie J has reportedly penned a song about Channing Tatum

According to the entertainment website Ace Showbiz, Jessie J reportedly went on Instagram Live recently and previewed a song called “Simply Be in Love.” On it, she appears to sing about their relationship and suggests that it failed due to them rushing into it, per the outlet. Some of the reported lyrics include:

“You’re always dreaming about tomorrow, and I’m still overthinking yesterday/Where you go I know I want to follow, let’s make a promise on today/Take it slow, baby steps, so we don’t ruin what comes next/Just be still, just stay calm, so we’re not rushing what we are/Pressure off, just have fun, it’s not a race, no need to run / If it’s forever, let’s just simply be in love.”

Of the song, Jessie J reportedly said: “I wrote this song about when you first meet someone and you want to steam ahead. Sometimes running can ruin a foundation that a relationship needs, which is to just be chill, stay still and enjoy the moment.”
