It’s hard to believe Jill Duggar is already 29 years old, as it seems we’ve watched her grow up on TV. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar first brought their 19 kids into the spotlight over a decade ago, and now, we’re able to keep up with their oldest kids via social media. And Jill has a totally new life of her own with her husband, Derick Dillard, and two sons, Israel and Samuel.

Jill’s caused quite a lot of controversy over the past year, as Derick came forward and admitted she’s on the outs with her family. But it seems they still sent her a birthday gift — though part of the present was fast food. Here’s what we learned.

Jill Duggar’s been on the outs with her family according to her husband, Derick Dillard

Jill used to fall right in line with her siblings, but a lot has changed over the years. She’s clearly going down a new path as she continues to grow as a mom to her sons, as she’s wearing clothing she was never allowed to wear in her younger years and enrolling her kids into public school. While Jill doesn’t talk about any potential feuds, it’s Derick who’s come forward with the information we all want.

Back in December 2019, an Instagram follower asked Derick if he and Jill ever see Jill’s family for the holidays. And Derick explained that they don’t see the Duggars often, as they need permission from Jim Bob before entering the big family home.

“Jill even had to ask JB permission to go over to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted her help, but Jill couldn’t provide the assistance until we got it cleared with JB,” Derick explained.

And he didn’t stop there. Since then, Derick’s also talked with YouTuber Without a Crystal Ball about the infamous family.

A few of Jill’s family members publicly wished her a happy birthday

Jim Bob and Michelle have yet to acknowledge anything Derick’s said. While they never post photos of Jill and Derick at their home, they do occasionally add photos of the couple to their family Instagram to celebrate big life events. And they added photos of Jill for her birthday on May 17.

“Happy birthday, Jill!” the caption of the post reads. “I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. You were the happiest little baby, and always had a smile on your face!” Jim Bob and Michelle then wrote about how Jill cares “deeply for others” and always wants to “share the love and hope of Christ, whether at home or on the mission field.”

The post seemed sweet, but some also noticed the photos chosen didn’t feature Derick or Jim Bob at all — and we’re not sure if that was intentional.

As for Jill’s siblings, many didn’t give any public birthday shoutouts. Jessa and Jana Duggar added “happy birthday” messages to their Instagram Stories, but that was it.

Jill didn’t make any Instagram posts about gifts she received for her birthday. But she did create a post for her Instagram Story showing off what Jim Bob and Michelle got her. According to The Sun, Jill posed next to a few gifts on a table for a photo — and one of the gifts included a lot of Taco Bell.

“Thank you @duggarfam for the @tacobell dinner and the b’day gifts today!” she captioned the photo she added to her Instagram Story.

What’s even more interesting is that the publication notes Jill didn’t “like” or comment on the birthday post her parents created for her. And it’s slightly surprising she didn’t add her photo to her regular Instagram rather than her Story, as the Story disappears after just 24 hours.

As for the gift itself, we’re not sure what else Jill got from her parents — but Taco Bell doesn’t seem too out of the ordinary. Considering the Duggars get jars of pickles as gifts, they take their snacking seriously.

We’re hoping Jill had a happy birthday and enjoyed her Taco Bell meal!
