Joe Giudice has reunited with his daughters for the first time in almost 12 months. The former Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member welcomed two of his four children to Italy on Friday, Nov. 6. The last time Joe, 48, saw his kids was in December 2019.

Gia, 19, and her younger sister Milania, 15, were the two Giudice girls who made the trip to Italy, where their father has been living since he was deported from the United States in October 2019. On Instagram, their dad posted a series of videos and photos showing him spending time with his kids. The trio visited the Colosseum and the Spanish Steps in Rome, went hiking in the mountains, and enjoyed some delicious Italian food.

“Happiness is being with my girls,” he wrote in one of his social media posts.

“Back like we never left,” Gia wrote on her Instagram

Many of Joe’s social media followers were struck by how happy the one-time reality TV star looked in the photos he shared.

“Joe, you look sOoO happy with your girls on your side. Wish you could be with them everyday,” another commented.

Gia, Milania, and their two sisters, Gabriella, 16, and Audriana, 11, live in the U.S., along with their mother, RHONJ star Teresa Giudice

Joe and Teresa finalized their divorce in September 2020,  nine months after announcing their separation. The couple had remained married even after both pleaded guilty to fraud and were sentenced to prison in 2014. Teresa spent 11 months behind bars, while Joe was sentenced to 41 months.

However, Joe’s conviction created an additional challenge for the pair of Bravo personalities. Joe is not a U.S. citizen; he was born in Italy and brought to the U.S. as a baby by his parents. Following his fraud conviction, he was subject to deportation as a felon. After completing his prison sentence in 2019, Joe was transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody while he fought the deportation order. Eventually, a judge ruled Joe could not remain in the U.S. and he had to return to his home country of Italy.

Joe being forced to leave behind his family in the U.S. for a new life in Italy proved to be the nail in the coffin of his and Teresa’s marriage.

“Teresa and Joe talked about their future when she and the girls were in Italy and decided it was best for them to separate,” a source told Us Weekly in December 2019. “Neither of them wanted to be in a long-distance relationship. Joe has been dating in Italy, Teresa is busy taking care of their girls right now. They harbor no ill will toward each other and will continue to co-parent their kids.”
