John Mulaney‘s wife, Anna Marie Tendler, continues to share hauntingly beautiful and heartbreaking photos on Instagram. This time she posted a photo where she sages her home.
Reps for Mulaney and Tendler recently announced the couple planned to divorce, but Tendler seemingly hinted for weeks about the separation. Tendler deleted her Instagram account shortly before Mulaney’s reps shared that he checked himself into rehab for a drug and alcohol relapse. Mulaney had been sober for years. But when Tendler returned to Instagram, her account looked completely different, providing clues that the couple was having problems.

Tendler has posted numerous photos from the same home for weeks. Several photos showed her wearing a flowing black dress, but this time she’s dressed in white. She is positioned on a chair holding sage. “New Moon in Taurus,” she captioned the photo.
The practice of burning sage is meant to cleanse a space but also remove the negative energy. “Burning sage is one of the oldest and purest methods of cleansing a person, group of people, or space and of getting rid of unwanted spirits,” energy practitioner Colleen McCann told Vogue. “The practice dates back to prehistoric times and it’s been documented as having been used in every corner of the world by our ancestors.”
Tendler’s need to sage is probably a long time coming. Rumors surfaced that the couple planned to split when Mulaney entered rehab. A source told Page Six that Mulaney asked his wife for divorce three months ago. Mulaney’s reps only shared, “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work.”
However, Tendler made it clear that the breakup was not her decision. “I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage,” she shared through her rep. “I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”

Tendler returned to Instagram in early Feb. but made big changes to her account. She used to have Mulaney listed as her last name. She replaced Mulaney with Tendler. Plus, the couple no longer followed each other on social media.
She also removed the majority of the happy photos she had posted of her husband. Initially, some photos remained, but she’s since completely scrubbed her account of Mulaney. Now, her account is dedicated to her art and photography, along with the most recent collection apparently expressing the pain she is enduring.
One family member who continues to be present in Tendler’s photos is the couple’s dog, Petunia. Petunia even made a short appearance during Mulaney’s Netflix special The Comeback Kid. He also joked about how the dog ran the household. No news on how the couple plans to handle custody of Petunia.
