The holidays are a big deal in the Duggar world, as it’s a time when Jim Bob, Michelle, and their 19 kids (as well as their many grandkids) can get together and celebrate. But that doesn’t mean all of the Duggars were in attendance for Christmas 2019. While Jill and Jinger were both noticeably absent from Jim Bob and Michelle’s huge Christmas party, Josh and his wife, Anna, also weren’t present.

Josh Duggar doesn’t have a social media presence, but Anna does. She consistently keeps her Instagram followers in the loop with what’s going on with her, Josh, and their six kids. Just a few days after Christmas, Anna posted a photo showing where her family is for the holidays — and it’s not even in the same state as the rest of the Duggars.

The Duggars had a huge Christmas celebration at their Arkansas home

The Duggars are majorly religious and have shared their strict beliefs with their viewers for years. And this also means that certain holidays, like Christmas, are hugely celebrated. The Duggar Family Instagram, which is seemingly run by Jim Bob and Michelle, shared their family’s 2019 Christmas celebration with their followers.

“Christmas is a perfect time to celebrate the love of family, exchange gifts, and create special memories that will last a lifetime. But most of all, we celebrate JESUS — God’s perfect, indescribable gift,” Jim Bob captioned one of the family’s Instagram posts. “The one and only Son of God came to earth as a baby for the purpose of giving His life for us. Of all the gifts we could ever receive, this is the very best!”

Jana Duggar, the oldest of Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids who still lives under their roof, also shared multiple Christmas posts to her Instagram. She documented how the Duggars exchange gifts, who was in attendance, and how they celebrated Christ.

Josh and Anna spent their Christmas elsewhere

Josh is one of the most infamous of the Duggars. He’s no longer featured on Counting On due to his molestation scandal of the past, and the family barely mentions him on Instagram.

Anna, however, seems to hold the Duggars in high esteem. She gave birth to her and Josh’s sixth child the day before Thanksgiving 2019, and she attended the annual Duggar ugly sweater Christmas party just five days after. Anna also frequently comments on her in-laws’ Instagram posts to feel more connected to what’s going on.

Despite Anna’s attempts at staying as close to the Duggars as possible, it looks like she and Josh skipped out on the big Arkansas celebration. Anna posted a photo of one of her and Josh’s kids on a Florida beach.

“Floridians consider this a #WhiteChristmas,” Anna captioned the post.

They weren’t the only ones to skip out on the big celebration

Back in November, news outlets reported Homeland Security raided one of Josh’s car lots. This coupled with Josh’s shaky past are leading many to believe that Jim Bob and Michelle may not want Josh and Anna to attend any major Duggar family events like Christmas. And Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, recently came forward with a few scathing accusations against Jim Bob and Michelle, too.

Jill and her husband didn’t attend the Duggar family’s Christmas celebration, as stated before. According to Dillard, he and Jill’s relationship with the family is on thin ice. In Touch Weekly reports Dillard told his Instagram followers that Jill has to get express permission from Jim Bob before going over to the family’s big Arkansas home.

Dillard told a follower that “it’s harder” to get together with some of Jill’s family because “we’re not allowed at the house when JB isn’t there. Jill even had to ask JB permission to go over to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted her help, but Jill couldn’t provide the assistance until we got it cleared with JB.”

If Dillard is telling the truth, does Jim Bob have these rules set with Josh and Anna, too? Could this be the real reason Josh and Anna spent their holiday in Florida? We’re not sure, but we hope to find out soon.
