Coronavirus (COVID-19) is still circulating around the U.S., but it seems certain reality TV stars aren’t taking many precautions. And the Duggar family from TLC’s Counting On have been called out for risky behavior.

Recently, Joy-Anna Duggar admitted to her Instagram followers that she and her husband, Austin Forsyth, had coronavirus. Here’s what she said.

The Duggars were condemned for having large gatherings during the pandemic

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have 19 kids and plenty more grandchildren, and they’re extremely family-oriented. This meant dealing with the coronavirus was ultra-difficult, as they adored having the kids and grandkids over to the large Duggar family home for celebrations.

Back in March, the matriarch and patriarch of the family posted a message to Facebook about the virus. “We know that this Coronavirus situation is unprecedented,” the post reads. “Beyond the health threat, there are so many unknown economic and societal impacts this virus is making worldwide. The one thing we do know is that even in the darkest days and in the most challenging times, we can put our trust and hope in God.”

Despite the kind words, fans and critics alike noticed the Duggars don’t seem to be abiding by guidelines. Jim Bob and Michelle held a fall family festival at their place, and it looked like at least 50 friends and family members attended. Jessa Duggar even recorded the event and posted a video to her YouTube.

It looks like Joy-Anna already went through the ordeal of having coronavirus. On Jan. 10, 2021, she answered fan questions on Instagram Stories. And one fan asked about the virus.

“Have you and your family had COVID?” a fan questioned.

“Yes, Austin and I both tested positive for COVID last year,” Joy-Anna answered. “I was still pregnant with Evelyn. We both had body aches, slight fever, and lost our taste and smell. Thankfully, we recovered quickly.”

Joy-Anna seems to be the only one of her family members to admit she dealt with coronavirus so far. Jill Duggar was open about getting tested several months ago, and she took her fans along with her via video. But Jill tested negative and also hasn’t been to any Duggar family events since the testing took place.

Critics think Joy-Anna and Austin still aren’t being careful

While Joy-Anna and Austin appeared to have a mild case of coronavirus, Duggar family critics think the couple’s still not being careful. Joy-Anna and Austin still appear to visit with friends and family unmasked.

“She probably thinks she’s immune to it now and doesn’t need a mask or anything,” a critic noted on Reddit.

“This goes to show how little of a problem these people consider COVID to be,” another wrote. ” … She doesn’t seem like the kind of person who would be cavalier about her baby’s health, so she probably is in true denial about the threat.”

“I just hope Evelyn and Gideon are OK,” yet another critic wrote. “I feel so bad for these kids.”

Overall, we’re glad Joy-Anna and Austin are healthy and thriving in 2021. And we’re hoping the rest of the Duggars are also doing their best to stay safe.
