The Duggars adore Christmas, as it’s the perfect time to get together with their huge family to open gifts, sing carols, and celebrate the birth of Christ. Despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it seems the family’s still gathering around the holidays. And Joy-Anna Duggar posted photos to Instagram indicating she had a get-together with her sisters and sisters-in-law.

It seems Jill wasn’t in attendance for Joy-Anna’s gathering, though. Here’s what was noticed.

Joy-Anna Duggar hosted a gift exchange with the Duggar sisters

The Duggars are getting into the holiday spirit, and Joy-Anna Duggar brought her family together for a Christmas gift exchange. On Dec. 16, she posted a series of photos to Instagram showing a large crowd in her home. Jessa, Jana, and Michelle were in attendance, and for the in-laws, Anna, Lauren, Abbie, and Kendra, are also spotted in the group photo. Anna’s daughter, Jessa’s sister-in-law, and a few of the younger Duggar kids showed up as well.

“I had the best time with my sisters this afternoon,” Joy-Anna captioned her Instagram post. “Wreath Making, Hot Cocoa, and Chick-Fil-A! Girls Christmas Party 2020! Love you all!”

The following photos in the series showed the sisters making their wreaths and sitting around with the little ones, too. Judging from the smiles and comments, they all appeared to have a great time.

“Thanks so much for hosting us Joy!” Anna commented. “We had such a fun time.”

Jill Duggar didn’t appear to attend the event

While many of the local Duggar ladies were present for Joy-Anna’s get-together, Jill wasn’t seen in any of the photos. She didn’t post anything about Joy-Anna’s event to her Instagram, either. On Dec. 12, Jill posted a photo of her sons watching a Christmas movie together, but she hasn’t posted to social media since.

We’re not sure exactly why Jill didn’t attend the Christmas celebration with her sisters. But it could have something to do with the family rift. At the end of December 2019, Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, told his Instagram followers he and Jill rarely saw the other Duggars because they needed Jim Bob Duggar’s permission to enter the big family home. Since then, Derick’s been dropping more hints about the rift. And Jill finally addressed it head-on in a few YouTube videos and an interview.

According to Jill, her family isn’t necessarily happy with her decision to leave Counting On behind. And they’re not ultra-supportive of how she’s choosing to live her life now.

So, was Jill invited to Joy-Anna’s party at all? Or did she choose not to go on her own accord? Duggar family critics are wondering why Jill wasn’t in attendance.

“I only hope that Jill was invited but said no due to Covid,” a Reddit user wrote.

“Derick has said they just aren’t invited to things anymore, but he isn’t a reliable source,” another user commented. “Since this is a girl’s day, though, it would be very sad for Jill to not have been invited. Who knows.”

“I have a hunch that this was filmed for the show,” another wrote.

We’ll have to wait and see if this party ends up on Counting On. If it does, then perhaps Jill wasn’t invited after all, as she no longer takes part in the series. And as we get closer to the holidays, we’ll have to wait and see if Jill and Derick see any of the other Duggars for Christmas.
