While the Duggars still film for TLC’s Counting On, Jill Duggar made her stance on the show known. Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, have condemned the series and spoken out regarding why they left. Not only that, but Jill noted many of her family members aren’t supportive of her new way of life.

In December 2020, Joy-Anna Duggar “liked” a comment on Instagram suggesting Jill’s not actually excluded from family events. Here’s what happened.

Jill Duggar took a massive step away from ‘Counting On’ and family events

At the end of 2019, fans had a feeling something was going on with Jill and the rest of the Duggars. And that’s when Derick started to speak out. According to Derick, he and Jill needed permission from Jim Bob Duggar to visit the Duggar family home and attend family events. Jill’s decision to live a more modern lifestyle and step away from Counting On seemed to create a serious rift.

Since then, Jill’s taken to YouTube and the press to explain her family situation to fans. While Jill still keeps up with many of her siblings, she tends to keep her distance from others, as many of her siblings aren’t totally OK with her breaking from the pack.

Are they supportive? Not always,” Jill explained of her family via a YouTube video. “Everybody’s gonna have their opinion about different things. I feel like some of my siblings are probably more like, have something to say about it than others.”

Joy-Anna Duggar ‘liked’ a shady comment about Jill’s absence

Jill’s taken to YouTube for multiple Q&As regarding her standing with her family. But it seems her siblings haven’t spoken about her absence too often. While many fans notice when Jill isn’t attending family events, it’s typically glossed over by the rest of the Duggars.

On Dec. 16, Joy-Anna posted a photo of many of her siblings and sisters-in-law coming together for a holiday gathering. The photo features Jessa, Jana, Anna, and Michelle Duggar as well as some of the young Duggar girls. But Jill is missing.

“Very sad that you guys never include her,” one fan commented on Joy-Anna’s post.

After that, another follower commented, “Why do you think she’s never included with the sisters ? Ever think she chooses not to go.”

Joy-Anna “liked” the second comment regarding Jill choosing not to be a part of family events.

Joy-Anna is entitled to her feelings regarding Jill’s scenario. But Duggar family critics on Reddit think Joy-Anna doesn’t fully understand Jill’s situation, as even if Jill’s invited to the party, it doesn’t mean she’ll be totally welcomed by her family members.

“Being invited isn’t the same thing as being welcomed,” one Reddit user commented.

“She may have been invited still with Derick but they would be watching them both like hawks, making sure they weren’t taking any unauthorized pictures or videos, making sure neither of them were talking one on one to any of the more ‘vulnerable’ children whom [Jim Bob] isn’t certain is 100% …,” another wrote. “It would probably just be so unpleasant and stressful that it isn’t worth going.”

“They might have been invited,” yet another wrote. “However, it’d be under their circumstances. While we may see Lauren wear ripped jeans and such, she is a daughter in law and not an OG Duggar.”

We’re hoping Joy-Anna and Jill will be able to talk about the rift one day, as they seemed ultra-close in their younger years.
