We’ve been keeping up with Joy-Anna Duggar for years, and everyone’s excited her to have her baby girl. Joy-Anna and Austin Forsyth already have a son, Gideon. But their second child was stillborn, which was a huge loss for the family.

Now, Joy-Anna is gearing up to have another child born in August 2020. But she mentioned in a recent update video that her doctor worried her second baby would be born in the breech position like Gideon. Here’s what Joy-Anna shared.

Austin and Joy-Anna are more excited than ever for their baby girl to arrive. They’ve kept their followers updated from the beginning of the pregnancy via their YouTube videos. While the couple made it clear they aren’t returning to Counting On, they still want their fans involved in their lives — and thanks to YouTube, Joy-Anna’s shared the entirety of her pregnancy with the public.

Unlike her other family members, Joy-Anna is also going for a hospital birth. The Duggars typically have home births, but Joy-Anna told her fans she’s heading straight to the hospital this time.

“I’ve never really packed a hospital bag before,” Joy-Anna shared in one of her videos. “With Gideon, I was doing a home birth, so I didn’t have to pack anything.” And she then went on to explain that while her sisters and mother can’t be in the hospital room with her due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, she’s hoping she’ll get a room with a window so they can stand outside.

She had a difficult birth with Gideon

Joy-Anna is prepping for a hospital birth due to her experience having Gideon. CafeMom reminds us Joy-Anna labored for nearly 20 hours at home with Gideon before her midwife realized that the baby was in a breech position (the baby’s feet would be first to emerge during childbirth).

“When the midwife came and told us that the baby was breech and that we had to go to the hospital, I was kind of discouraged because she had labored for so long and we were really hoping that we could just have a home birth,” Austin explained to TLC cameras. “But at the same time, I was ready to have this baby. Joy was tired and I’m just: ‘Let’s just do whatever it takes to get the baby here.'”

Joy-Anna ended up having a C-section for little Gideon — and prior to the procedure, she noted it was her greatest fear. “Before I went into labor, having a C-section was my greatest fear,” she said. “That was one of the things that I was scared of. I didn’t want to have a C-section.”

Joy-Anna said she was worried her newborn would be born breech

Joy-Anna posted another recent video with baby updates at 37 weeks of pregnancy. She recorded herself getting another ultrasound of the baby — and she later explained while in her car that the doctor initially thought she was having another breech baby.

“When the doctor came in, he was like, I’m not sure if she still is head-down,” Joy-Anna noted. “And I about freaked out, because it reminded me of Gideon. Anyways, so, I was like, uhhh yeah. So he was like, let’s just double-check. He brought in the portable ultrasound machine, and he was like, yep, there’s her head. She’s head-down, she just hasn’t dropped yet.”

Joy-Anna was elated with the news that she’s not having another baby in the breech position, but she did note that her doctor may want to induce her if the pregnancy goes beyond 40 weeks. But her doctor gave her encouraging news about how far along she is currently, and she seems at peace with the info given.

“That’s exciting,” she added. “Hopefully, things will move smoothly.” We’re hoping the same for the excited mom!
