Whenever dinosaurs are involved, the stakes tend to be high. As such, the survivalist thrills on Netflix animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous have already kept fans engaged for three seasons. Here’s what we know so far about Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 4.

The story of the ‘Jurassic Park’ movies continues on Netflix

Set before, during, and after 2015’s Jurassic World, Camp Cretaceous follows a group of teens who arrive on Isla Nublar for an adventure camp experience. However, the escape of the mysterious Indominous Rex and subsequent release of all the park’s dinosaurs leave them fighting for their lives. For three seasons, they’ve been trying to survive on the islands, with only each other to depend on. But their time is running out.

2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom makes the bold choice of finally destroying the titular dinosaur island. Sure, Isla Sorna — the “Site B” prominently featured in The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III — is still out there. But Fallen Kingdom doubled down on this twist by releasing the surviving dinosaurs into the wild. And this game-changing development is sure to affect the story of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.

‘Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ Season 4 promises something new

Naturally, the events of Fallen Kingdom meant the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous cast needed to leave the island to survive its destruction. But Season 3 concludes with the teens on a boat heading toward an uncertain future. Finally free from the island, they believe freedom is at hand. But unbeknownst to the characters, their vessel actually has an unseen creature onboard. It’s unclear how season 4 will build on this last-minute reveal.

“It’s clear that there’s plenty more story to tell,” showrunner Scott Kreamer told Entertainment Weekly. “It can go in a lot of different ways, but it does certainly seem that our kids, while escaping some peril… I don’t think they’re on their way to Club Med. … I’ll say this: For anyone who has been tracking the speed with which these seasons have been made available, that would only suggest that there’s a larger plan afoot.”

‘Jurassic World 3’ hits theaters on June 10, 2022

Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. But seeing as season 3 debuted mere months after that news broke, fans shouldn’t expect much of a heads-up for season 4. Moreover, if the show intends to tee up the next movie, the next batch of episodes is likely in the works now.

Jurassic World: Dominion hits theaters on June 10, 2022. And considering how Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous has weaved into the recent trilogy, it’s certain to overlap with the next movie. The big question is whether the Netflix show — like the movies — will continue beyond this next installment.
