Kanye West Rented Out a Global Landmark For His One-Year Anniversary With Kim

Never ones to shy away from the extravagant, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have a relationship dripping with luxury and excess.

Even though the decor in their home trends toward the minimal, the couple makes sure to showcase their wealth with grand gestures that have been displayed throughout their dating and marriage history. Along the way, there have been some truly impressive gifts. Remember the time that Kardashian gave West a $750,000 car for his birthday? How about when West commissioned a street artist to create a portrait of his new bride as a wedding present? 

All of that pales in comparison to the gesture West undertook for the couple’s one-year anniversary, however. He clearly wanted to make a statement, and he did so by renting out one of the most famous global landmarks on the entire planet. 

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have a strong relationship

When Kardashian and West began dating back in 2012, it was the punchline for many jokes. The pair had been friends for years, so it wasn’t out of the blue, but Kardashian was still feeling the public ridicule after her famously short marriage to Kris Humphries lasted only 72 days.

Rumors started flying that Kardashian and West were an item, but many were convinced the relationship was a publicity stunt. They made their status official in April 2012.

Just over a year later, the couple made it abundantly clear that their relationship was serious when they welcomed their daughter North to the world. By October 2013, the pair announced their engagement with a wedding date for the following May.

In May 2014, West and Kardashian tied the knot in a truly stunning ceremony in Florence, Italy. Guests were flown in from Paris to Italy via a private jet, and Andrea Bocelli performed at the wedding. It was definitely a celebration worth remembering! 

The marriage has been full of surprises

Perhaps no one expected the couple to last when they first announced they were dating, but West and Kardashian are now one of Hollywood’s obvious power couples. The pair support one another through some truly surprising projects and passions. 

Kardashian has been by West’s side as he uprooted his family from their Californian home and started a new life in Wyoming. West, who was once a leading man of traditional hip hop, has shifted his entire career focus.

His work is now centered on religious music and his controversial Sunday Service. All the while, he’s had the support of his family, which includes not only daughter North but the three other children the couple added to their lives along the way. 

For his part, West has been supportive of Kardashian’s efforts to shift career focus as well. She’s been using her reality TV experience and influencer status to draw attention to issues in the criminal justice system. She has even taken that newfound passion into her work to achieve a law degree. It’s clear that the couple has provided a strong foundation for one another, helping each star achieve individual goals and dreams. 

The one-year anniversary was over-the-top

You’d expect nothing subtle from two of Hollywood’s most over-the-top celebrities, and the pair definitely delivered when it came to their one-year anniversary. They planned a vow renewal in one of the most romantic cities in the world: Paris, France.

If you’re going to show off in Paris, there’s no better place to do it than the Eiffel Tower, and that’s exactly what West made sure happened. 

In fact, West rented out the Eiffel Tower’s restaurant, 58 Tour Eiffel, to ensure that his friends and family would have privacy and plenty of space to celebrate in absolute Parisian style.

Since then, the couple has celebrated many more anniversaries and are still going strong, showing all of those critics from years back that they had it wrong. This relationship was built to last.
