Kanye West Thanks Candace Owens Amid Divorce Battle With Kim Kardashian West Over Daughter North’s TikTok
Kanye West thanked political commentator Candace Owens for taking his side in the divorce battle with wife Kim Kardashian West over their daughter North West’s TikTok account. Here’s what has been going on between the rapper and the reality star, and how Owens showed her support.
Kanye West slammed wife Kim Kardashian West for letting their daughter North have a TikTok account
On Feb. 4, Kanye West shared a since-deleted Instagram post about his oldest daughter, North West, being on TikTok. He shared a screenshot of 8-year-old North’s face with the TikTok logo and her handle, @kimandnorth, clearly visible against a pink background.
West captioned the photo, “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL ?”
Kim Kardashian West, whom the rapper is in the process of divorcing, quickly responded to the post in her Instagram Stories. “Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create,” the SKIMS founder wrote. “As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision – because it brings her happiness.”
She added that “divorce is difficult enough” on their children and that “Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation” is “only causing further pain for all.”
Candace Owens supported Kanye West by saying Kim Kardashian West ‘is wrong on this one’
“Kim is wrong on this one,” Owens wrote. “The psychological effects of social media on young girls is real and documented.”
She said that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was “spinning” the rapper’s concern for his child. “It’s actually Kanye that is trying to protect his daughter in this regard and Kim is spinning this as ‘obsession’ and ‘control,’” Owens wrote. “There are other creative outlets for kids.”
She added in a separate tweet, “There is no 8 year old in the world that needs social media. Go color.”
The rapper thanked Candace Owens for her support
Kanye West has since thanked Candace Owens for her public support. He shared a screenshot of her tweets on his Instagram and captioned it (per Page Six), “THANK YOU CANDACE FOR BEING THE ONLY NOTEWORTHY PERSON TO SPEAK ON THIS ISSUE THERE’S A LOT OF CELEBRITIES SCARED TO SAY SOMETHING IN PUBLIC BUT THEY’LL TEXT ME IN PRIVATE AND SAY THEIR ON MY SIDE.
“I WILL NO LONGER PUT MY HAND THROUGH A BLENDER TO HUG MY CHILDREN,” West continued. “MY MOTHER TOOK ME TO CHICAGO WHEN I WAS 3 AND TOLD MY DAD IF HE CAME TO CHICAGO HE WOULD NEVER SEE ME AGAIN SO I BOUGHT THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR I DREAM OF A WORLD WHERE DAD’S CAN STILL BE HEROES.”
West has since deleted all of his Instagram posts about his daughter’s TikTok account.
