For years, Kanye West spoke openly about his desire to make a name for himself in the fashion industry. The rapper had been vocal about some of the things he found himself up against considering his lack of fashion education and the barriers he faced as a Black man coming into the industry from hip-hop.

However, in 2015, West launched his Season 1 Yeezy sneaker collection with Adidas and nothing has been the same since. Now known as one of the most influential shoe brands in the world, West has branched out into clothing and athleisure wear.

Now, it appears that he’s following in his wife, Kim Kardashian West, and sister-in-law Kylie Jenner’s footsteps with Yeezy Cosmetics.

Inside Kanye West’s Yeezy Cosmetics

Though Keeping Up with the Kardashians is the foundation of their business, the KarJenner family has made a great deal of their fortune on beauty products. It appears that the College Dropout rapper is using this blueprint for his own cosmetics line.

According to TMZ, West just filed a trademark that covers a ton of things including beauty, skincare, and fragrance products. These products include “makeup, false eyelashes, facial masks, nail polish, moisturizers, bath gels, body oils, shaving cream, hair care products, and perfumes.”

The most interesting product is Yeezy-branded scented pine cones. However, this is not the first time West has filed a trademark for a beauty brand.  In 2017, he reportedly secured the rights to DONDA brand cosmetics, named for his late mother. But how do the KarJenners feel about him encroaching on their territory?

Kylie Jenner is still reeling from her business scandal

It is likely that Yeezy Cosmetics will launch as a brand for men. Therefore, it will not be marketed toward the same demographic as Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Beauty.

In fact, Jenner currently has much more to worry about than Yeezy Cosmetics. Forbes recently released a scathing report about the makeup mogul and her business titled,  “Inside Kylie Jenner’s Web Of Lies — And Why She’s No Longer a Billionaire.”

The article stripped Jenner of her billionaire status and claimed that the she and her mother, Kris Jenner fabricated tax documents and financials. Now Kylie Cosmetics and their parent company, Coty Cosmetics are under investigation.

Kim Kardashian West will always publically support Kanye West

Though she might not agree with everything her husband does, Kardashian West has been an avid supporter of the rapper and his business ventures. In a recent birthday tribute to him, she said, “Happy Birthday to my King. Thank you for always being you and never letting the world change who you are! Life wouldn’t be the same without you!”

While West might ask for his wife’s input regarding some of Yeezy Cosmertics’s potential products, this appears to be his project. Considering the clout that the brand name already carries, we’re going to assume that this will do well.

As a result, it would only add to the couple’s increasingly massive net worth which is better for both of them in the long run.
