Though Detroit-bred rapper Kash Doll is fairly active on Instagram, she’s been moving around a bit more on Twitter lately.
Between catching fans up on her acting career and scolding her detractors, she’s also making time to clown NBA player Kevin Durant. Before suffering a thigh injury in the April 18 game, the Brooklyn Nets star was on the receiving end of a prank call from Kash Doll.
Kash Doll and Kevin Durant have a friendly rivalry
Back in February, Kash Doll and Kevin Durant went viral after the rapper tweeted a message about guys wanting “KD,” referring to herself and some song lyrics from City Girls.
That sparked a social media battle over who has ownership of the initials “KD” since that’s been Durant’s nickname for years. Fans chimed in on his behalf, and he and Kash Doll had a little friendly back and forth about it.
Some ripped into the “Ready Set” rapper with jokes and insults on Twitter and Instagram, but she seemingly took it in stride. A few noted Kash Doll’s real name is Arkeisha Knight so technically, she can’t claim KD.
But apparently, it’s been an ongoing thing between her and Durant without any bad blood. According to Kash Doll, they “argue about this all the time.”
As it goes, she once told Sway of Sway in the Morning that she’s been going by the rap moniker since 2011, and she stuck with it when she began working as an exotic dancer.
Kash Doll pranks Durant and he hangs up on her
Recently, Kash Doll wrapped filming in Atlanta on 50 Cent’s new TV show BMF. During some downtime on set, she took a moment to play a prank on Durant.
“Y’all i FaceTimed Kevin Durant last night on set while my (black eye and bloody nose make up was on) and told him his fans did that to me bc of the KD argument. y’all should’ve seen his face!!! He was so concerned until i started laughing then he hung up,” she wrote.
Kash Doll added that 50 Cent was on set when it happened, and although she hasn’t posted the interaction online, she screenshot it. Fans are cracking up on social media.
Kash Doll plays Monique in ‘BMF’
The makeup job Kash Doll referenced in her tweet is for her role in Black Mafia Family, the upcoming Starz series produced by 50 Cent. BMF is based on the real-life story of Terry and Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, two brothers from Detroit who ran their own drug empire.
She plays a character named Monique, a paralegal who’s also lovers with one of the main protagonists.
According to the synopsis from Starz, she’s “a strong single mom determined to give her daughter a better life. When it comes to being a parent, she’s a practical provider. But away from work and home Monique is creative, adventurous, and one of Demetrius Flenory’s lovers. But Meech and Monique’s relationship is much more than just sex and pillow talk: Monique’s firm represents some of the biggest drug dealers in the city, which gives Meech and Terry an advantage in their rise through the streets.”
A release date is yet to be announced, but fans should look out for Kash Doll’s debut in BMF and can keep up with her and KD’s antics on social media.
