The seasoned actors have been best friends ever since they starred in James Cameron’s Titanic back in 1996. Now, almost 25 years later, they remain as close as can be. And according to Winslet, they are quite the jokesters whenever they are together. Even when they’re acting in incredibly dramatic scenes, they can’t help but burst into laughter in the middle of shooting. And according to Winslet, the funniest moment in her entire career involved a scene with DiCaprio.

Winslet and DiCaprio have always had a playful bond. And according to Rolling Stone, DiCaprio loved grossing out Winslet on the set of Titanic. Yet, instead of acting repulsed, Winslet had the same sense of humor and would prank him right back.

“Grossing Kate out was purely Leo’s job,” Billy Zane told the magazine. “He got really good at it. If he wasn’t rolling back his eyelids, he was making objets d’art out of bodily fluids.”

But the joking around didn’t stop there.

“DiCaprio had to wear a long coat for much of the shoot,” said Titanic director James Cameron. “He would, like, fart in it and then sweep the coat over her face. I mean, if anybody else in the world did that, they’d get slapped,” he laughs. “And the other person would walk away and not talk to them for a week. With Leo, Kate would just crack up.”

Anyone who has seen Revolutionary Road knows how tragic and emotional the film is. But according to Winslet, things were a lot lighter behind the scenes. In fact, Winslet and DiCaprio acted so goofy off-screen that they couldn’t stop laughing when they had to film one of the most emotional scenes in the film.

While speaking to the Intelligence Squared podcast, Winslet recalled a moment during filming that left them in hysterics. According to Winslet, DiCaprio really wanted chocolates in the middle of shooting. They had a crew member get him an assortment of chocolates, and when he started to eat, he ended up spitting it out of his mouth.

And although Winslet admits it wasn’t even that funny, she “could not stop laughing.” This caused a chain reaction where DiCaprio started cracking up as well.

According to Winslet, they were laughing so hard that they couldn’t look each other in the eye.

“We were in absolute hysterics,” she said. “We were in our own little Kate and Leo mad little world. We were absolutely cracking up laughing to the point where we could no longer look each other in the eye. But we haven’t finished filming the scene.”

She continues, saying that it was one of those moments where someone would say ‘Action,’ and the two would just laugh even harder. In the end, they had to film the scene without staring at each other because they could not look each other in the eye.
