With The Matrix and John Wick movies under his belt, Keanu Reeves is no stranger to appearing in major franchises. However, there is one he hasn’t broken into just yet: the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, fans have been speculating on whether or not the actor might join the MCU’s lineup of heroes — or villains — sometime in the future. And he doesn’t seem uninterested in such a development. The actor even admitted it “would be an honor.”

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans want a Keanu Reeves Marvel movie

Although Keanu Reeves is just now sharing his thoughts on joining the MCU, it’s far from the first time the idea has been floated. Marvel fans have been calling for the actor to join the franchise for years. Even Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige expressed his interest in having him aboard.

During a 2019 interview with ComicBook.com, Feige admitted the studio is constantly approaching Reeves with opportunities:

“We talk to him for almost every film we make. We talk to Keanu Reeves about it. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

Naturally, many were excited by the prospect of Keanue Reeves’ MCU debut, but nothing ever came of it. However, during a recent interview, the actor finally shared his two cents about joining the MCU. Could that indicate that he’s considering it?

With The Matrix Resurrections and John Wick 3 coming out in the near future, Reeves has had a fairly busy schedule. However, he hasn’t missed the growing entity that is the MCU.

During a discussion with Esquire, he revealed that he finds Marvel’s expansive universe impressive. He also addressed all the speculation about him joining the franchise, suggesting it’s something he’d be excited to do:

“It would be an honor. There’s some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they’re doing something that no one’s really ever done. It’s special in that sense, in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it would be cool to be a part of that.”

That doesn’t mean he’ll definitely sign on for a superhero project, but it does leave the possibility of a Keanu Reeves Marvel movie on the table. So, who could Reeves play in the MCU?

Although there’s no official confirmation the actor will join the MCU, Marvel fans wasted no time hopping online to talk about a Marvel role for Keanu Reeves. One possibility many threw out there was Wolverine. With Hugh Jackman retired from the role, Marvel would need some impressive talent to recast the character in the MCU. Keanu Reeves’ Wolverine has been a popular fancast as many think Reeves is the man for the job.

Ghost Rider was another popular answer when Fandom.com asked who Reeves could play on Twitter. It’s easy to see him slipping into that role. But then, The Matrix and John Wick star is talented enough to nail any part Marvel throws his way. Hopefully, he’ll say yes to one of them.
