Celebrities get married all the time. They also separate at what seems to be a higher frequency than the rest of the population. And when famous people come together to form a Hollywood power couple, you can imagine just how intense those divorces can be, too.

One celebrity duo who hashed out a pretty public divorce was Kelsey Grammer and Camille Meyer. Their split was partially made more public because of Meyer’s role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills during the Season 9 reunion.

Grammer had already solidified his reputation in Hollywood as a top TV actor. When the dust settled, Grammer and Meyer walked away from their union, splitting their $60 million fortune down the middle. Here’s how it all unfolded.

Kelsey Grammer married Meyer back in 1997. Together, they have two children, son Jude and daughter Mason. Their marriage lasted for almost 14 years before they called it quits in 2011. For the most part, their union is reported to have been happy, with the family unit being a priority as both Grammer and Meyer continued pursuing their acting careers.

Bravo TV reports that when Meyer was asked what she missed most about her marriage to Grammer, she responded with, “Nothing.” But after some reflection, she did say she missed the “family unit being together.” So, in retrospect, their union did have its highlights and tender moments.

Why Kelsey and Camille filed for divorce

It’s been a number of years now since Kelsey Grammer and Camille Meyer called it quits. But there would be more drama to come, and there was nothing quick about the official separation. People reports that, during The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, Meyer fully prepared herself for the “hot seat.” She anticipated her castmates’ ensuing pressure to discuss the details of the split.

Meyer admitted she was grateful there hadn’t been a prenup. She said, “Thank you, Kelsey. I guess you loved me at one point.” It wasn’t until October of that final year that the courts officially determined how the celebrity couple would split their assets.

Meyer was granted 50% of Grammer’s 401K and a 50/50 split their $60 million fortune. She defended her position by saying, “I worked hard,” and didn’t just kick up her heels to enjoy an actor’s lifestyle without effort.

The dust has settled between the two. And yes, they both moved on to find love again. Grammer married Kayte Walsh. The 66-year-old Frasier and Cheers star took his 42-year-old wife and three children, Auden (5), Kelsey (7), and Evangeline (9) out for ice cream just last December, as the Daily Mail reports. Grammer certainly embraces family life well.

Meyer went on to remarry David Meyer in 2018 at a private Hawaiian beach club, although she did keep Grammer as her last name for some time in an effort to protect and identify with her children. Daughter Mason, who was 16 at the time, was a bridesmaid. Son Jude, who was 16, walked his mother down the aisle in what they all described as “a very special moment.”

The Kelsey Grammer and Camille Meyer divorce is a reminder of how turbulent Hollywood separations can be. In their case, the family earnings were split down the middle. And it might make you wonder just how many other actors or celebrity couples saw that ruling and ran out to draft their own prenups.
