A Kidney Transplant Is Finally Scheduled for Drew on ‘B Positive’
Drew’s kidney transplant has been scheduled. The day he and Gina have been looking forward to will be here before they know it. Here’s what happened last time on B Positive.

Drew and Gina get news about the kidney transplant
During B Positive Season 1 Episode 17 (titled “Transplantation”), Drew (Thomas Middleditch) and Gina (Annaleigh Ashford) get good news. Drew’s doctor tells him the bloodwork looks good and he’s ready to have his kidney transplant. After months of waiting, it’s finally happening.
Gina and Drew are so thrilled with the good news that they go and tell the dialysis group. While there, they meet a new dialysis patient, Megyn Wen. She hosts a lifestyle, wellness, and beauty podcast. Gideon explains she will be taking Samantha’s chair while she’s out of town.
Adriana has some cancer news
Drew can’t wait to let his girlfriend, Adriana, know about the news. He tells her he’s set to have his transplant, but the news doesn’t land well. Adriana has some news of her own—her cancer spread. “The chemo isn’t working,” she explains. “It spread to my liver and a couple of other places.”
Drew says he will be with Adriana as she goes through this process. Adriana is scared, especially since the doctor couldn’t tell her how much time she has left to live. However, Drew tells her not to think like that, and that she has a lot of time ahead of her. He tries to help by getting her into a cancer trial in Switzerland, but he doesn’t have much luck. Adriana appreciates Drew’s help, but she doesn’t want to try to save her life anymore.
“I appreciate all this, but I think I’m done,” says Adriana. “Done with all of it—the chemo, the radiation, all the poking and prodding. I just want to enjoy whatever time I have left.” Drew tells Adriana she has to fight, but she says she doesn’t.
“No, I don’t” replies Adriana. “It’s my life.” She explains she doesn’t want to spend the end of her life “tied to a machine that makes her feel even sicker.” She wants to finally be at peace and not sick or in pain.
Drew tells Adriana to have a positive attitude and things will be better. However, his pep talk doesn’t go over well. He and Adriana get into an argument. She tells him she initially had a positive attitude, but it didn’t make a difference. “Stop telling me how to feel,” says Adriana.
Adriana gets into the Switzerland cancer trial
Later on, Gina has good news for Drew. She was able to connect with her friend Dr. Pete (the owner of Canoli, the dog she dog sat). Dr. Pete pulled some strings, and he was able to get Adriana into the Switzerland cancer trial. Drew tells Adriana, and she agrees to give the trial a try.
During another twist of events, Drew gets a call from his doctor. He finds out someone cancelled their surgery, so he could move his surgery up if he wanted to. This way, he won’t have to wait two months for a new kidney. However, Drew decides to stick with the original date so he can travel to Switzerland with Adriana. Hopefully, nothing happens between now and Drew’s scheduled kidney transplant.
