‘King of the Hill’ character Peggy Hill called a “bad mom”

As seen on King of the Hill, family is important to Peggy. She and her husband Hank Hill (Mike Judge) raise their son Bobby Hill (Pamela Adlon) in the small town of Arlen. Aside from Bobby, Peggy is also a mother figure to her niece Luanne Platter (Brittany Murphy), who she took in after her mother was arrested.

During the show’s 13 seasons, Peggy’s love of her family shined. However, a recent ScreenRant article called her a “bad mom.” The article gives an in-depth explanation of how Peggy’s narcissism and selfishness altered her parenting skills.

Fans debate her parenting skills

The article created an uproar with King of the Hill fans. Peggy was trending all over social media as longtime fans debated her parenting skills. On a Reddit thread, most users defended Peggy and said although she had her flaws, she wasn’t a bad mom.

“She’s not a bad mom. She’s a narcissist but loves Bobby,” one fan wrote.

“Look, she raised a son who was kind, confident, ambitious and had a mental fortitude that literally shocked Cotton Hill. She must have done something right,” another commenter chimed in.

“Peggy also had a couple of redeeming qualities that helped you put up with the bad parts. Like she’s incredibly overconfident; but at the same time, she tries to instill a similar confidence in Bobby, and is incredibly supportive of him in an open and assertive way,” one viewer wrote.

“No one is perfect, and I feel like she has false, but that’s what makes her a good character and mom. She is even nurturing to Luanne,” another user replied.

The character had her flaws

King of the Hill fans agree that Peggy had her flaws. As seen throughout the series run, Peggy appeared to have a big ego and overconfidence. She often bragged about her accomplishments and being smart, even though she made foolish mistakes.
