Bell was born in Michigan in 1980. Raised in a working-class family, Bell was pulled from public high school as a freshman and began attending a private school, where she studied music and drama.

She appeared in a number of her school’s theater productions, impressing teachers and classmates with her singing and acting skills. After she graduated from high school, Bell decided to pursue a career in acting and moved to New York City in order to attend New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Throughout the early ’90s, Bell continued to act in theater productions, all while keeping an eye on a possible future in film and television. In 2001, Bell landed her first on-screen role, in the movie Pootie Tang.

After a few smaller roles, she was cast in the new TV series Veronica Mars. At the age of only 24, Bell became a star thanks to her work in the series. She has continued her upward career trajectory in the years since, effortlessly appearing in both TV shows and big-budget movies — and all the while, remaining relatable and funny.

Kristen Bell’s family

Bell first crossed paths with her future husband, Dax Shepard, in 2007, at the birthday party of a mutual friend. Although there was definite chemistry between the two, it wasn’t until several weeks later, when they met again at a hockey game, that Bell and Shepard decided to pursue a romantic relationship.

They announced their engagement in 2010, but stated that they would not get married until California legalized same-sex marriage. Shortly after the state ruled section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional in June 2013, Bell and Shepard tied the knot.

By that time, they had already started their family, welcoming their oldest daughter, Lincoln, in 2013, and another daughter named Delta in 2014.

In a recent interview with Travel + Leisure, Bell opened up about how she and her family have still been able to travel during the pandemic, by forming a pod with another family, and by camping and booking Airbnb’s. Still, just like any mom traveling with her kids, Bell has experienced a good bit of stress during these mini family vacations.

Bell admitted in her interview that when she travels, she relies on a few specific things in order to help her stay calm. She always travels with an eye mask, in order to help cut out any outside stimulus and minimize chit-chat from those sitting next to her.

Bell also likes to travel with CBD products, mainly from her brand-new line of CBD-enhanced body care Happy Dance. Prior to leaving on any trip, Bell uses the products on her shoulders, temples, and legs.

By utilizing these tips, Bell is able to stay stress-free and thoroughly enjoy any family trip. And since they’re relatively simple, fans can emulate Bell as well.
