Law & Order: SVU is one of television’s longest-running and most popular police procedural dramas. The show, which premiered on television in 1999, was created by television icon Dick Wolf for NBC and has been in continuous syndication ever since, with new fans gravitating to the series with each passing year.

Helmed by Mariska Hargitay, as well as longtime fan-favorite actors like Ice-T, Law & Order: SVU is now considered to be iconic television. With the advent of an all-new season, many fans are diving deep into some of their favorite characters’ futures — and debating whether two of the show’s mainstays could find their way into each other’s arms.

Since Law & Order: SVU debuted on television, Hargitay has played the role of Captain Olivia Benson, the series lead. For years, Elliot Stabler, her partner, played by Christopher Meloni, was at her side.

Although Stabler left the series in 2011, and many other characters have come and gone in the years since, Hargitay has remained a constant. In recent years, a few popular new characters were added to the Law & Order: SVU lineup.

Two of Law & Order: SVU’s power players are Dominick Carisi, Jr., played by Peter Scanavino, and Amanda Rollins, played by Kelli Giddish. While the two characters are onscreen frequently, tackling tough missions and dealing with shady characters, it is their interactions with each other that really got fans talking right from the start.

As detective partners, Rollins and Carisi did not always have an easy time of it. In fact, the two got off to a rocky start, disagreeing with each other frequently. Still, the chemistry that they had was undeniable.

Showrunner Warren Leight opened up about their unique bond in early 2020, stating that “they’re kind of in an interesting relationship because neither of them seems to be involved with anybody and they’re dependent on each other, but at some point, someone’s going to pair up or go out on a date.”

He went on to tease a possible romantic bend to their relationship, saying “what’s going to happen when that happens? Maybe co-dependent is too strong, but they’re intertwined.” While nothing romantic has yet happened between Rollins and Carisi, recent events have some fans convinced that the two will get together.

Will Rollins and Carisi become romantically involved?

Recent episodes of Law & Order: SVU contain a number of hints that could point to a new direction for Rollins and Carisi. According to Distractify, the fact that Fin and Phoebe have gotten engaged is a signal that showrunners are ready to introduce longer-lasting romantic relationships for members of the squad — who notoriously all have problems maintaining stable relationships.

Additionally, the increased sexual tension between Rollins and Carisi has fans hyped for the two to become a couple — and the pair has even been dubbed “Rollisi” by eager viewers. In the current season, fans briefly got a scene with the two spending New Year’s Eve together.

Another clue that showrunners and writers could finally create a romantic opportunity for Rollins and Carisi is the fact that the two aren’t partners anymore. The increased space could mean that both professionals finally realize just how much they really mean to each other.

Viewers will have to stay tuned to see what twists and turns Law & Order: SVU showrunners have up their sleeves for these two fan-favorite characters.
