Leah Remini Is Still Remembered for Her Time on ‘Saved by the Bell’

Leah Remini has amassed nearly 50 acting credits in the last 30 years. While some fans consider her role as Carrie Heffernan in 'The King of Queens' as her most significant, it isn't the part that fans want to talk about. Remini revealed that people still talk to her about her brief stint on 'Saved by the Bell.'

Leah Remini has had a pretty illustrious career since she earned her first acting credit. She has appeared on several successful sitcoms, was a co-host on a talk show, appeared in a reality TV series with her family, and wrote a bestselling book that blew the whistle on Scientology. She has even earned two Emmy awards. Still, the well-decorated actor revealed that fans still clamor to talk about her brief stint on Saved by the Bell

Leah Remini played Stacey Carosi on ‘Saved by the Bell’ for six episodes

Leah Remini was a relatively unknown actor when she landed a recurring role on a summer-themed stretch of Saved by the Bell episodes. Remini portrayed Stacey Carosi, a New Yorker who spent the summer in California visiting her father, Leon Carosi. Leon owned the Malibu Sands Beach Club, the club where the gang landed summer jobs.

Stacey acted as Zack Morris’ love interest during the six episodes she appeared. Initially, Zack and Stacey disliked each other, but their romance developed pretty quickly. By the time Stacey headed home to New York, she and Zack had a full-blown relationship. Stacey was not mentioned after the story arc, and the character never reappeared, though.

Leah Remini recently revealed that fans still want to talk about her brief stint on the 1990s teen show

After Saved by the Bell, Remini went on to star on several well-received shows. Most notably, she spent years playing Carrie Heffernan on The Kings of Queens. Still, she claims fans want to talk to her about Saved by the Bell.

During an appearance on Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s podcast, Zack to the FutureRemini revealed that fans still want to talk about her time on the famed show. Remini claimed that, even now, after years on other TV projects, many fans are still mystified by the six-episode story arc and want to discuss it at length. Apparently, the role was so iconic that she is still recognized as Stacey Carosi on occasion.

Could Leah Remini make an appearance on the ‘Saved by the Bell’ reboot?

Remini may have made waves when she appeared on Gosselaar’s podcast, Zack to the Future, but fans are still talking about Gosselaar’s commentary on their chemistry. During the episode, Gosselaar revealed that he had undeniable chemistry with Remini and hardly considered their kissing scenes acting. Still, Remini insisted she was intimidated by the cast at the time. Now, decades later, Remini is, at the very least, on equal footing in terms of star power. Could she return to the show’s reboot, though?

If showrunner Tracey Wigfield has any say, Remini will reprise her famed role. In an interview with TVLine, Wigfield revealed that there have been multiple discussions about potentially returning to the Malibu Sands. Wigfield is excited about the prospect of bringing the character of Stacey back for that purpose.

Wigfield wants to be careful about bringing former cast members back for the sole purpose of nostalgia, though. She said, “I think we’ve done a good job of, when we have OG cast or guest stars from the original, using them in a meaningful way and not just having them come back and say a line.” That would be the goal with Remini, too. Wigfield even appears to have a potential premise worked out. She told TVLine that she envisions Stacey owning and operating the beach club now.

Whether sparks would once again fly between Stacey and Zack is unknown, though. It certainly would complicate the series. In the Saved by the Bell reboot, Zack is married to his high school sweetheart, Kelly Kapowski
