The Lightyear crew took part in a major part of Pixar movie history in its latest adventure. The movie studio has a long line of films, but it’s hard for most people to choose just one favorite. However, Lightyear star Chris Evans and other members of the crew revealed what their personal favorite Pixar movies are of all time so far.

‘Lightyear’ marks the 26th Pixar movie

Lightyear is the latest Pixar movie for audiences to see. However, this solo adventure is a prequel spinoff to the Toy Story film franchise. The story follows Buzz Lightyear in the 1995 movie that was Andy’s favorite movie. As a result, he bought a Buzz toy and added it to his collection including Woody.

Lightyear targets the nostalgia of the audience, but it also opens up the Pixar universe a bit more. There are some familiar moments involving Buzz from Toy Story, although it also expands on a greater level of the real character’s adventure.

Taiki Waititi, Uzo Adubo, and Keke Palmer name their favorite Pixar movie

Rotten Tomatoes asked the cast of Lightyear to pick their favorite Pixar movie other than their film and explain why. The video started with Taika Waititi, who voiced the character Mo Morrison. He quickly gave a response and repeated it several times as the interviewer continued to read the question.

Up,” Waititi said. “Up. Up. Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up.  For me, it’s the most emotional film of theirs that I’ve seen. It’s the one that speaks to me the most. I think the themes are very clear and relatable. Also, having the main character as an elderly man, you never see that. No one takes the risk. No one makes a movie about an old person.”

Next, Uzo Aduba and Keke Palmer talked about their favorite Pixar movie aside from Lightyear. They voiced Alisha Hawthorne and Izzy Hawthorne, respectively.

Up,” Aduba initially answered. “Then, I went to Finding Nemo in my head.”

However, Palmer quickly interjected: “For me, because I’m just always on that mental health gag, which I think I’m on a lot of things, but I’m screaming this from the rooftops: Inside Out. Period, point blank. I remember being in a theater with, I had some kids with me, but I felt like it was for me, and I’m like, ‘I needed this.’ It was so good. So, Inside Out for me.”

Aduba then changed her final answer: “Now, you know what I’m actually calling an audible because I said Up before, you know which one I also loved? Soul.”

Peter Sohn, Angus MacLane, and Galyn Susman call out their favorite Pixar movie

The next one on the Lightyear cast to state their favorite Pixar movie was Peter Sohn, who voiced SOX, the robotic cat companion to Buzz.

“I would say the original Toy Story for me,” Sohn said. “That was the first one, I was in art school when I saw it. It totally changed my career path and made me want to come here and so that one for me would be number one.”

Director Angus MacLane and producer Galyn Susman revealed what their favorite Pixar movie is aside from Lightyear. They also had specific reasons for picking the films that they did.

“I’ve only ever seen one Pixar movie as an audience member,” MacLane said. “Only Toy Story. And so it’s really hard for me to see it as a movie. So, I didn’t work on Inside Out and was able to see that one fresher than most. So, that one means a lot to me. Incredibles is probably, as an individual contributor, the one I had maybe the most fun on. And I worked on that for three and a half years.”

Susman had a very different response from the rest of the pack: “I hate to say it. It might be Ratatouille. I’m a sucker for visuals, and I just think it’s just beautiful.”

Evans voiced Buzz in Lightyear. Tim Allen voiced the toy version of the character, but Pixar brought Evans on board to voice a more serious iteration of the character.

The Incredibles,” Evans responded about his favorite Pixar movie other than Lightyear. “It’s a perfect movie. It’s just a perfect movie. I mean, I’m a huge Craig T. Nelson fan. I just think it’s a perfectly balanced, structured movie. Everything from the directorial choices, I think Brad Bird is a genius. To me, it’s a perfect movie and it’s easily my favorite Pixar movie.”
