Lil’ Wayne Couldn’t Help Himself With a $2.7 Million Ride
They call it impulse buying. You may be guilty of it, especially when you spot something you just have to have, and you don’t pay any attention to how much it costs. Celebrities aren’t immune to impulse buying either. Except when they buy things, the price tags tend to have a few extra zeroes on them. Rapper and Grammy winner, Lil’ Wayne fell prey to must-have buying when he purchased a sleek new ride. It set him back $2.7 million, and he didn’t seem to mind.
Making Lil’ Wayne a household name
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1982, Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. knew music would be his gift from the early age of eight. As a teenager, he was already creating ground-breaking songs. By 2009, he won a family of Grammy Awards for songs like “Lollipop,” “A Milli,” and “Swagga Like Us.” With his rapping fame and his iconic stage name of Lil’ Wayne, he’s branched out into a variety of business segments. His fashion line, “Trukfit,” has been a success and contributes to his overall estimated wealth of $120 million. In addition to creating his wealth and becoming a household name, Lil’ Wayne also has four children.
A few pricey rides in his celebrity-level garage
With his wealth and hefty bankroll, Lil’ Wayne can afford to own any vehicle he wants. And his celebrity garage is full of some of the most exotic and expensive rides out there. He bought his all-black Porsche Boxster when he was 19, according to Hot Cars. And to commemorate his age, he insisted the car have 19-inch wheels. He owns a stylish, and also black, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Other impressive rides in his collection include the Bentley Mulsanne and the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.
He couldn’t resist dropping $2.7 million on this gem
One car that seems to be popular among celebrity car enthusiasts is the Bugatti Veyron. Lil’ Wayne may have been feeling a little of that impulse buying pressure, considering his former mentor Birdman and rapping counterpart, Cash Money, already each had one of their own. Lil’ Wayne bought a Bugatti for himself, reports Hot Cars. He, of course, had some customizations added, including his favorite black matte finish. When he was done personalizing his luxury ride, he had invested $2.7 million.
The luxurious lifestyle of Lil’ Wayne
Cars aren’t the only things that Lil’ Wayne chooses to invest his millions in owning. He dropped $17 million on his new Miami Beach home, for example, that features seven bedrooms, 22-foot ceilings, and an elevator, according to Vocal. On a smaller scale, he’s also known for his love of Dr. Dre’s headphones and is reported to own a pair of diamond-studded Beats. Lil’ Wayne likes his bling and also owns several diamond-filled watches. One is a Chopard Watch, worth $1 million, and weighing in at a full pound.
He doesn’t always spend his money on himself, though. Lil’ Wayne has assisted up-and-coming recording artists as well as underprivileged children. He setup One Family Foundation, a charitable group focused on helping urban youth, according to Biography. He’s also helped his old school to rebuild their athletic fields after Hurricane Katrina. It’s clear that while he may enjoy the finer things in life, he doesn’t forget to use his fame for good.
It’s hard to say if everything Lil’ Wayne buys is based on impulse. And in the end, it probably doesn’t matter. He’s wealthy enough to buy whatever he wants. But it’s clear, if its exotic, stylish, and unique, it may just end up in Lil’ Wayne’s possession eventually. Most would say he’s certainly earned the privilege of owning expensive things.
