When Ronan found out that director Greta Gerwig – who directed her in 2017’s Lady Bird – would also be in charge of Little Women, she jumped at the chance to beg to play the role of Jo March.

“I was ready to jump out of line and take it on,” she told Variety. “Jo is such an important figure for so many girls, and I didn’t feel daunted by it. I was precious with her.”

She wasn’t going to waste time beating around the bush. Ronan said she “tapped Greta on the shoulder and said I heard she was doing Little Women, and that I needed to be Jo.”

Gerwig told her she had to think about it, to which Ronan replied, “Oh, for f—’s sake.” A few days later, Ronan found out she had gotten the role.

One of Ronan’s favorite movies

The 25-year-old revealed to Jimmy Fallon in 2018 which movie she considers a big favorite. It’s fun to hear what an actress her age, who’s already accomplished so much, thinks are great movies.

It’s 2011’s Bridesmaids.

“Huge [fan],” Ronan told Fallon on The Tonight Show. “Like, I’m playing it in my head right now. So I’m not really here, I’m there.”

She told Fallon she was going over in her mind the scene in the movie where the character played by Kristen Wiig is drunk on an airplane and starts a scene. At this point, never one to let an opportunity like this go by, Fallon began quizzing Ronan on her Bridesmaids knowledge.

“What does Rebel Wilson’s character use to treat her infected tattoo?” Fallon prodded.

“She uses a bag of peas-she uses the peas out of the bag. You’re supposed to keep the peas in the bag,” Ronan spot-on replied with the speed of a striking cobra.

“What kind of food did they eat before the wedding dress fitting?” Fallon continued.

“Brazilian chicken,” Ronan answered promptly.

Ronan and Fallon went on with the impromptu quiz, with Ronan quoting the film, especially one of her favorite lines about Melissa McCarthy planning the bridal shower with a fight club theme.

“I love it very much,” Ronan said after singing Wiig and Rose Byrne’s song during their bridal shower toast.
