Rihanna filmed the 2020 Savage X Fenty Show during the coronavirus pandemic

Just like the rest of the entertainment industry, Rihanna has had to adapt her plans in the last few months as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. When it came to the 2020 Savage X Fenty Show, it was clear that the show must go on.

In a preview for the event posted on Instagram, Rihanna made it clear that she — along with the entire Savage X Fenty Show production — was taking the necessary safety precautions on set. She arrived at the venue wearing a mask and face shield, and it’s likely that the audience will be small or nonexistent this year. Rihanna is never one to put the people she works with in danger, so creating a COVID-safe environment for models, talent, and crew was of the utmost importance.

Rihanna invited some new friends for this year’s Savage X Fenty Show

Rihanna has always been about making everyone feel included and represented in her brands, and Savage X Fenty is no different. This year, she’s invited people of all shapes, sizes, colors, and genders to appear in the show, many of them celebrities in their own right.

Savage X Fenty newcomers such as Lizzo, Demi Moore, Willow Smith, Irina Shayk, Paris Hilton, Rico Nasty, and Erika Jayne will all be joining the family this year. Given that artists like Lizzo and Rico Nasty have posed in Savage X Fenty lingerie before, it’s no surprise they’ll finally be making their way to Rihanna’s runway.

Rihanna also invited RuPaul’s Drag Race winners Jaida Essence Hall and Shea Couleé to join the party. They follow in the footsteps of Vanessa Vanjie Mateo and fellow winner Aquaria, who appeared in last year’s Savage X Fenty Show.

Rihanna included some Savage X Fenty Show alumni in this year’s show

This year’s Savage X Fenty Show will feature some familiar faces on the runway as well. Cara Delevingne, Bella Hadid, Paloma Elsesser, and Normani will all be returning to the Savage X Fenty stage. Delevingne, Hadid, and Elsesser all walked the runway last year as models, while Normani commanded the stage for a showstopping dance segment set to Sean Paul’s “Get Busy.”

Rihanna also invited back men from last year’s show, including Big Sean and Christian Combs (P. Diddy’s son). Big Sean performed as a musical guest last year and he’s billed as someone featured in the show this year, so his role remains unclear.
