Fans are understandably psyched about Marvel’s new addition to Disney Plus’ Loki. Owen Wilson, the typically funny actor, is entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mobius M. Mobius alongside Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. The matchup and teasers have viewers impatient for the premiere.

After a recent interview revealed the two were taking a deep dive into Loki lore, fans wonder if they’ve leveled up their friendship to best friends yet.

Hiddleston and his role in ‘Loki’

Before becoming the infamous Loki, Hiddleston had his first role with the TV series The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby and his first film role in the award-winning 2007 movie Unrelated. It wasn’t until he entered MCU in 2011’s Thor that his career really started to take off, leading to his participation in other hit MCU films like The Avengers series, the Thor series, and eventually his own show.

There are not many people who don’t know who Hiddleston’s Loki is by now, but as a recap: Loki is from Norse mythology, son of one of the Aesir gods and god of mischief. However, most viewers know him from his relationship with gods Odin and Thor, where he has been seen many times, causing embarrassment for them and himself.

The clever trickster has the power to astral-project, do hypnosis, levitate, conjure, teleport, telekinesis, shape-shifting, and much more.

Wilson and his role in ‘Loki’

Most people know Wilson for being one of the funny guys in several of his hit comedies like Wedding Crashers, Starsky & Hutch, the Zoolander series, and many more. Playing a funny guy isn’t all this actor can do, as he has since moved into more serious films like Marley & Me and No Escape. With that being said, fans should expect Loki to be one of Wilson’s comedic roles, and they don’t have to worry about him not being able to take on more serious roles.

Making his first debut into MCU, the Hollywood superstar is taking on the role of Mobius M. Mobius who started in junior management of Time Variance Authority but worked his way up to senior management through meticulous detailing.

The character is one of several that look like him (so you might see nearly a dozen Wilsons running around!) and supervises various timelines. When necessary, he also takes action and determines the fate of the time traveler.

Rumor: Is Loki Set to Appear in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’?

In an interview with Sirius XM, Wilson gave fans a look into how Hiddleston helped him prepare for his MCU role by giving him a crash course on Loki lore and history.

“Tom Hiddleston, who of course plays Loki, he kind of or we kind of –they were almost like the Loki lectures,” Wilson said. “And so he walked me through everything and the whole lore and showing me clips from the other movies and how it all fed into this story. So, it was really kind of Tom telling me about it and telling me about his character.”

The Wedding Crashers star added, “And even in the way sometimes that he would describe his character, it was useful for me because my character Mobius in Loki is kind of interviewing him at some point. So, it kind of worked doing it that way.”

From the sounds of it, the two Loki stars have been spending a lot of time together in preparation for what we’re all about to see in a few short months. While they’re likely heading in the direction of being best friends, much like Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth (Thor), there’s no saying for sure just yet.
