There’s tons of danger lurking for Will Robinson (Maxwell Jenkins) on season 3 of Lost In Space. The sci-fi adventure picks up with the Robinson family’s interstellar journey as they try to reunite while facing their biggest challenges yet.

The new season premiered on Netflix on Dec. 1, almost 2 years after season 2, which hit the streamer in December 2019. Unfortunately, the new, eight-episode installment is shorter than the last two ten-episode seasons.

Will there be a ‘Lost In Space’ Season 4?

Fans may have hoped for more seasons after waiting for so long to see the riveting space adventure. But unfortunately, Lost In Space was canceled by Netflix and will wrap up its story with the season 3 finale.

Fans may be disappointed in the news. But according to showrunner Zack Estrin, Lost In Space was mapped out as a three-season series from the get-go.

“From the beginning, we’ve always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy,” he said in a March 2020 statement. “A three-part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle, and end.”

“It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode,” he added. “If anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission, it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith… and The Robot. And, of course, Debbie the Chicken.”

Ted Biaselli, the Director of Original Series at Netflix, said the streamer was thrilled to share the last chapter of the Robinson family journey with viewers and give them an epic finale.

“We’re especially thankful to Zack Estrin, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Kevin Burns, and Jon Jashni for helming Lost in Space, which has brought viewers a premium action-packed and visually spectacular series that the whole family can enjoy together,” Biaselli said. “And we can’t wait for our family audiences to see where Season 3 will lead!”

Season 3 will serve as the end to the series
