Those who’ve been keeping up with Little People, Big World know all about the love triangle of Matt Roloff, Amy Roloff, and Caryn Chandler. Amy wrote in her memoir, A Little Me, that Matt was seeing the Roloff Farms manager (presumed to be Caryn) during their marriage. Now, Matt and Amy are divorced — and there’s plenty of tension between Caryn and Amy.

It seems Caryn stands up for Amy on occasion, though. Here’s why Matt said Caryn takes “Amy’s side” during season 21 of the show.

It hasn’t been easy for Amy to accept Caryn as Matt’s girlfriend. In A Little Me, Amy explained that she found inappropriate photos and videos exchanged between Matt and the farm manager presumed to be Caryn. This devastated Amy, as she never expected to divorce her husband.

“I saw messages, pictures, and other things that should not have been shared between people who just worked together and were still married to other people,” Amy wrote. “I was devastated.”

It’s also made it quite difficult for Amy to be around Caryn during family events. She’s mentioned that Caryn’s presence will “always hurt.” But it seems it’s gotten slightly better over time.

“When Caryn and I are at these group events and stuff, I mean, I’ll do my best to be cordial and respectful because she deserves that, but I’m not gonna pretend to suddenly be her friend or anything,” Amy explained.

Matt Roloff said Caryn continues to take Amy’s side

Matt and Amy have been struggling over what to do with Amy’s side of Roloff Farms. While she’s moving off of the farm in season 21, she and Matt can’t seem to come to an agreement of how quickly she should pack her things and leave. And Matt explained the strife to Caryn.

“Well, I totally get your side, but I get her side, too,” Caryn told Matt. “She still consider this, as of right now, today, her home. … Maybe you can find a happy medium so she feels like she has some control over something she still owns.”

Caryn then added that if Matt could do a better job of explaining everything that has to happen in order to get Amy’s side of the farm ready for the future, Amy would be more receptive to the change. “You gotta give Amy a little bit of grace.”

“She’s always taking Amy’s side on everything,” Matt told the cameras about Caryn. “I’m not sure what that is.”

“Not everything,” Caryn corrected. “I’m always the devil’s advocate on everybody’s side.”

Caryn still throws shade at Amy, though

While Caryn seemed to side with Amy this time around, she still throws shade Amy’s way from time to time. Caryn is all in favor of Amy moving off of Roloff Farms, but it’s not because she wants to take over Amy’s side of the property. In fact, Caryn’s made it known she has absolutely no interest in ever living in Amy’s old home.

“I might live on the farm one day,” Chandler explained in a previous episode of LPBW. “If he builds, you know, all that’s up for negotiation.” She then added that she’d “never live in the big house,” though. “Ever. Put a pin in that.”

With that said, it looks like Matt’s planning on building something new for him and Caryn. On Season 21 Episode 3, Matt detailed some big plans he has for the future — and he noted he wants Caryn to stick around for the rest of his life.

We’ll have to wait and see how the future of Roloff Farms continues to unfold on the show!
