Season 21 of Little People, Big World shows all of the difficulties Amy Roloff’s having with moving off of Roloff Farms. Matt Roloff and Amy divorced back in 2016 after three decades of marriage, and Amy made the decision to leave the farm behind and start anew elsewhere. But it certainly hasn’t been easy for her.

Matt and Amy have been arguing about Amy’s move on the show. And Matt mentioned the different paces at which they move was a driving favor for their divorce.

Matt and Amy started Little People, Big World together, but they haven’t been married for quite a few years. The exes officially called it quits in 2016 after several decades together. And it seems there were a number of reasons as to why they no longer wanted to be together.

In Matt and Amy’s book, Little People, Big Values, Matt made it known he doesn’t view commitment in the same way as Amy. “Amy tends to be more of a committed-to-a-fault kind of person, while I see most commitments — with some very notable exceptions — as flexible and negotiable,” he wrote. And Matt later noted that he found he and Amy were growing apart after their four children were born.

It seems there may have been other factors at play, too. In Amy’s memoir, A Little Me, she wrote about inappropriate photos and texts exchanged between Matt and one of the Roloff Farms managers (presumed to be his current girlfriend, Caryn Chandler).

Matt told Amy recently that their different ‘pace’ is why they divorced

During Season 21 Episode 4 of LPBW, Matt and Amy continue their discussion regarding Amy moving off of the farm. Matt makes it clear he thought Amy would be finished packing and moving months prior. And Amy explains she’s doing the best she can as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the two cannot see eye to eye.

During a tense discussion, Matt tells Amy he’s surprised she’s not more “focused” on her new home with Chris Marek instead of slowly moving off the farm. “I’m just surprised you’re not focused on that more, but you’re just over here every day taking a two-day process into a six-month process,” Matt tells Amy.

“I’ve got other things going on in my life,” Amy says.

“That’s why we’re not married anymore,” Matt counters. “We move at very different paces.”

While Matt wishes Amy could move at a swifter pace with her moving schedule, Amy doesn’t appreciate Matt’s tone. After the comment about their marriage, she tells the camera she’s shocked she was able to deal with Matt for as long as she did.

“There’s a process to certain things and that process is different for everybody,” Amy told the cameras. “But, the whole conversation I just thought was … it just speaks volumes to me, the type of personality he has. And I’m amazed that I survived with it as long as I have.”

It looks like Matt and Amy made the right decision for themselves by separating. Now, Matt is happy with Caryn and Amy is engaged to Chris, so we’re hoping things are more harmonious between the exes presently than they were when they discussed Amy’s big move off of Roloff Farms!
