The New England Patriots are headed to the playoffs. But after a loss against the Miami Dolphins to close out the regular season, quarterback Mac Jones is focused on playing better when the team takes on the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round. And while he’s focused on that his girlfriend, Sophie Scott, is focused on cooking. But her skills have come into question after a recent video of the dinner she made went viral because the food caught on fire.

Here’s what Jones said when he was asked about the meal Scott tried to make.

Who is Sophie Scott?

If you’re not familiar with Scott, she’s been dating the signal-caller since 2019.

They both attended the University of Alabama where she cheered her beau on as the Crimson Tide won the National Championship in 2021. Following Bama’s victory over the Ohio Buckeyes, Scott posted a photo of herself via Instagram at the game with the caption: “National Champions! #rolltide” and a trophy emoji.

When Jones later decided to enter the NFL Draft, she shared her support for him again on social media writing: “I’m so proud of you for following your dreams and declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft. I’m so excited to see where the next chapter takes us.”

The next chapter took them to New England where Jones got a little help from Scott when it came to learning his playbook. Jones previously admitted that his girlfriend did walkthroughs of the plays with him in their backyard. “She does a good job. Most of the time she just walks through [plays] in the yard,” he explained, adding, “Yeah, she helps me a lot.”

Video shows their food on fire

On Jan. 3, Jones and Scott has planned on enjoying a nice meal together at home but that went up in flames. Literally.

Scott shared a video on her Instagram Stories of her running and calling for Jones’ help while holding a pan with a chicken that had caught on fire. “When your Furbo catches you lighting dinner on fire,” she captioned it.

Thankfully, no one was hurt and the couple ended up laughing about it later. Scott wrote: “P.S. It’s OKAY to laugh [Everything’s OK]. Shared because I’m dying laughing about what the Furbo catches” and added a laughing till I’m crying emoji.

Jones joked that Scott ‘overcooked it a little bit’

During his weekly radio spot on 93.7 in Boston, Jones was asked about Scott’s viral video.

The athlete told WEEI’s Merloni and Fauria his girlfriend was broiling chicken and joked that she “overcooked it a little bit.”

“She’s learning, just like I am,” he said of Scott’s cooking. “We’re trying to make more meals at home and be more healthy.”

So much for that though because the couple ended up ordering out after the incident as Scott posted a photo of their PF Changs takeout.
